HOT SHOP is a ADV/PRO workshop series designed to aid individuals in reconnecting to their artistic voice and the joy of movement, through the exploration of Hot Crowd’s diverse repertoire and improvisation.

This 3-hour workshop iteration is inspired by our Season 7’s research of innate human traits. S.8’s HOT SHOPS will continue to explore the raw human experience while introducing our S.8 theme of connection, hardship and self expression.

Dancers can look forward to company class, improvisational exploration, and company repertoire. Each and every HOT SHOP is carefully constructed for a different experience. Come meet the Directors and Assistant Rehearsal Director while connecting with the community through, class, research , discussion and movement.

HOT SHOP 1 (September 28th, 12pm-3pm): repertoire will explore the S.7 finale of INNATE, “Lovesick” choreographed by resident choreographer Katie Carey. Participants are invited to dive into this other-worldly piece with a class warm up with Co-Director Devon Lloyd and then transition into the statement piece with Assistant Rehearsal Director Lindsey Scouten. �
HOT SHOP 2 (November 17th, 12:30pm-3:30pm): repertoire will explore the latest commissioned piece of S.8, “Please Hold,” choreographed by Emily Duggins Ehling (St.Louis). Participants are invited to dive deep into this story of friendships, tender connection, while focusing on the thoughtful transitions and seamless partnering. Both class and rep will be conducted by both Directors

HOT SHOP 3 (May TBD): repertoire will explore the final process of S.8. More information to come!

Favorite things about Hot Crowd:
I’m beyond thankful for these beautiful humans, rep that pushes me artistically and a space that welcomes my creativity and voice.

Proudest memory/moment within Hot Crowd:
Oop I have a few. Going on tour for the first time was incredibly fulfilling. Being able to even perform the solo in hEARt. Creating my first work on the company and the entire process.

When you’re not in the studio what else are you doing?
When I’m not in the studio you can find me snuggling with my linny, jamming out to music at the lake, in the bath with a nice glass of wine or buying myself a cookie cake.

What is your ideal date?
“That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th, because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket."

Favorite things about Hot Crowd:
my favorite thing about Hot Crowd would have to be the company culture. We do amazing work and work hard while also making the best memories.

Proudest memory/moment within Hot Crowd:
my proudest memory/moment within Hot Crowd so far would have to be our first tour/residency. I had an absolute blast and was so proud to see the impact we were able to have on the students at Lindenwood.

When you’re not in the studio what else are you doing?
When I’m not in the studio I’m either teaching/managing at American Dance Center, working for Detroit Dance City Festival, shopping💁🏽‍♀️ or taking Pilates.

What are you most excited about for “Innate”?
I’m really excited to premiere all of our new works, the audience is definitely in for a treat, there’s something for everyone in this show!

Being able to not only dance with these wonderful people, but also have fun with my friends and create core memories

-Proudest moment/memory:
Representing Hot Crowd in St. Louis performing a piece choreographed by the founder. It was such an amazing experience and I was so grateful to be apart of it

-When you’re not in the studio what else are you doing:
I’m quite literally always at work, so you could catch me either with American Dance Center in Orland Park teaching my kiddos, or I’ll be spending my time working at Lululemon with my lovely group. If I happen to not be working I’ll be on my couch snuggling with my cat and watching movies with my friends

-Favorite place to vacation to?
Traverse City, MI

Favorite thing about Hot Crowd:
My favorite thing about Hot Crowd is that it is truly like a family. I have so much love and trust for everyone in the company. I am so lucky to get to dance with my friends everyday!

Proudest moment:
My proudest moment was my promotion from guest artist my first season to company member my second!

What are you doing when you’re outside of the studio?
If I’m not at the studio I’m either teaching dance, coaching my dance team or spending time with family and friends!

Do you have any pets? I have two dogs named Thor and Loki!

My favorite thing about Hot Crowd is how we balance fun and quality in the rehearsal space. I also love the people that I get to dance with; they are what make it special!

Proudest memory/moment within Hot Crowd:
My proudest moment with Hot Crowd was choreographing on the company last year (season 6). It was rewarding to watch the piece come alive, especially with lights!

When you’re not in the studio what else are you doing?
When I’m not in the studio, I love to read and take care of my “plant babies” (I have 55…).

Favorite things about Hot Crowd:
Hot Crowd is so much more than a dance company; it’s also a beautiful community! I felt so supported and welcomed from the moment I first stepped into the studio on my first day, and that same love extends to every Hot Crowd workshop, class, and event

Proudest memory/moment within Hot Crowd:
My proudest memory so far has to be joining the company’s recent tour to St. Louis! It was a rewarding challenge to learn a piece of company repertoire in just a few rehearsals, and it was so fulfilling to dance with and meet so much of the St. Louis dance community! Getting to visit Wally’s as an added bonus was the cherry on top lol

When you’re not in the studio what else are you doing?
If I’m not in the studio I’m probably either working or sleeping hahaha….but in my free time I love going to the movies, hanging out with friends, messing around with my tarot deck, and going to concerts. I’m trying to read more in 2024 so I’ve been frequenting my local used bookstores and adding to the already long list of books I’m halfway finished with 😔
