Start of day two of TASHRA’s 6 hour- Bound by Ethics: Navigating the Intersection of Kink and Clinical Practice. Lively blend of new professionals and seasoned. Lots of talk about the ethical complexities of working with s*xually diverse people and relationships.
Fantastic dive by Steve Ratcliff
and Zita Nickeson (who love talking about documentation, technology, ethical dilemmas) Richard Sprott discussed ethics w surrogates and pro do**es. Covered decision-making models to use for assistance in ethical challenges. One attendee told us it’s the most interesting and relatable ethics they ever taken. We are going to prepare this for asyncronous viewing soon! Stay tuned.
Last night, Richard Sprott received the Race Bannon Advocacy Award from Russell Stambaugh of the National Coalition for S*xual Freedom (NCSF), for his lifetime of work for the advancement of s*xual freedom for kink involved. His work founding CARAS, TASHRA and now the APA’s B**M Taskforce are just a few of the multitude of contributions he has made. CONGRATULATIONS! Much love and appreciation.

Working on a my additions to a intro chapter on S*x Positivity and Heathcare that Richard Sprott got such a great start on. I’m so grateful for his amazing scholarship. Given that he has dealt with such significant health challenges this quarter and that I’ve also been sick this entire month, I never take for granted what our partnership in TASHRA makes possible. Thank you, Richard!! and our team and students who teach us everyday.
For all of you who want to meet Jasmin, the s*x doll. Here she is.
She is not wearing her auburn wig but she is draped for modesty. Right now she is vacationing in Long Beach for a few months with a generous kink community member. She comes to reside in the East Bay in a couple months. I will update you on her adventures. She is happy to have helped s*xual medicine providers understand more about the vast breadth of s*xual interests people have. It helps them become more understanding and provide informed info and care. Thanks, Jasmin for being on the team.

I’m finally home!!!! That was a long trip. followed by . The culmination was the honor of being on a panel with the renowned Debby Herbenick and Dr. Keisuke Kamata to discuss the choking phenomena happening with teens and young adults, the neurological impact on their brains, and how kink community approaches consent and risk. I was thrilled to look out at Zita Nickeson and Steve Ratcliff, two of my right hands at TASHRA. So many connections made with the interdisciplinary ISSWSH members. I hope for collaborations and deepened relationships. Go, s*xual medicine!!!
HELP!!! I’m in Long Beach and need to find a temporary home for a 75lb s*x doll today, Sunday the 25th. I know this is crazy! We bought her for a demo for the s*xual healthcare providers to see at the conference and our options to get her back to SF fell through tonight. I just need to store the doll for about 2 months til I drive back down to LA. I don’t have a car here but let’s talk about options. Please let me know if you’d be willing help a s*xologist out. HELP!
David Ley just rocked the house discussing moral panic, S*x negativity, fear and the clamping down on s*xuality. He touched on everything from p**n, risk to s*xuality professionals, to the dangers in the No-Fap anti-masturbation movement. It was moving and thoughtful. I’m glad he’s such a sh*t-stirrer. *xposcon
Liam Wignall is currently speaking on Kink in the Digital age- interesting distinction between Community and Non Community involved individuals. They think about kink differently. They use the internet differently. His research is on Socio-S*xual Networks. (SSNS) *xposcon

A wonderful evening start to Society for the Scientific Study of S*xuality - SSSS in New Orleans. A magical dinner at Commander’s Palace Restauranf. It did not disappoint. Still phenomenal. More tomorrow. For now, off to bed with a full stomach and a lovely buzz.
To my B**m Kink research colleagues. Just attended an illuminating session by the NIH at the American Public Health Association Conference. I think I got some insight and direction on how to approach research and program funding for our population since we don’t fall under recognized SGM designation. I’ll put together a get together at Society for the Scientific Study of S*xuality - SSSS. Let me know if you’re interested in talking. I hope to know more by later in the week.
