As September rolls in and summer begins to fade we took some time last night to appreciate the skyline we call home with our colleagues and friends at and Thank you again for an inspiring night!

When clients become besties! 😎✨ We had the pleasure of designing UTLX’s new office at 181 W. Madison—right alongside their parent company, Marmon Holdings LLC, who we also worked with. From vibrant industrial vibes to flexible spaces perfect for hybrid work, we crafted a space that pulls the team back together for some in-person magic. 🏢💡 Big shoutout to UTLX for trusting us to bring their vision to life!

We’re excited to share our latest project, The Hive, in collaboration with Partners! This space features stunning turnkey spec suites with vintage-inspired design elements, warm wood tones, and brass accents.

Similar to their Kansas City office, geographic location served as the inspiration for the design and palette of our client’s Chicago location. The lighting fixture mimics the tracks of the Chicago elevated trains, the ceiling texture evokes the grates of Chicago’s famous bridges, and a custom mural painted by a local artist ties the space together. Employees were even given a chance to suggest their favorite landmarks to be included in the mural!

We are proud to continue a long-term partnership with our confidential national client. Our latest project together resides in the heart of a Chicago landmark- the 49th floor of the Willis Tower! Like our client’s other locations, user choice was a key factor in the space’s design. Offering a variety of work settings and privacy options in the new office allowed for an overall reduction in square footage, while maintaining a high-quality user experience.

As we continue to celebrate our 40th year in business, we are looking back on our original logo from 1984! While our branding has evolved, the original logo lives on as art in our current office as a reminder of where we started.

We are excited to announce that on December 5, Whitney’s Executive Vice President Rick Joutras will be sitting on the “Building Chicago’s Guinness Brewery” panel at Bisnow’s Chicago Hospitality Summit! Rick, along with the rest of the Guinness Open Gate Brewery team, will be speaking about his experience working on this iconic project and the journey of bringing Dublin to Chicago.

Palette inspired by color of the year, Redend Point. We love a warm neutral for fall 🤎

New project alert! This spec suite at 515 N State was inspired by the local Chicago cafes we all know and love. With warm brown, caramel, and cream tones mixed with cozy textures, our designers were looking to create a space that feels like home away from home. The angles throughout the space reflect the modernist architecture of the 515 N State building itself, which comes to a distinguishable sharp point. We could not be more obsessed with this space!

A big thank you to BEAR Construction for throwing another incredible annual golf outing last Thursday! This year’s theme “Road Trip Around the USA” brought a little taste of Hawaii, Colorado, and Florida to each hole at the Old Orchard Golf Course. Shout out to our team—Veronika, Joe, Brandon, and Andrew of Madison Rose!

Congratulations to our partners .designers who worked with Carolina, healthcare division, in the development of Ansel. The team was awarded Best of Neocon 2022 – Silver for the results of their efforts. Meaning “divine protection”, Ansel acts as a hedge of space division and privacy to provide comfort and support the healing process.

Whitney welcomed instructor Hasnain Khundmiri and his STEAM students from the GCE Lab School for a Design Immersion Day. GCE uses our great city as a classroom, and we were privileged to explore the real-world applications of the student’s studies and share what a career path in design, architecture and construction might be. Thank you to those who partnered with us on this meaningful day: Arcadia, Clune Construction Company, Chicago Connectory, DIRTT and JSI.

Congratulations to our Whitney team members who recently received their NCIDQ Certification. We are proud of your efforts, a tremendous accomplishment given the amount of work projects each of you are contributing too. Cheers!

Let’s give a huge shoutout to our 2022 Whitney Beach Volleyball team! From their first game played with only 5 players in 50-degree weather, to their final game last night on one of the hottest days of the year, our team truly glowed up (not to mention they had the best shirt design in the league–if we do say so ourselves). They may have only won one game, but their spirits were high throughout and we couldn’t have asked for a better season or a better team. Go Whitney!!!

Congratulations to this year’s Greater Chicago Food Depository Commercial Real Estate Award Nominees and Winners. The event, which Whitney proudly supported, raised over $1.2 million to ensure nutritious food is available all year to our neighbors in need. We’d also like to acknowledge Mary Rossi Esche and everyone’s Oscar worthy performances in the epic Brown Bag Challenge video. Get ready to laugh out loud!
