Chicago lost a leader for justice this week with the death of Mattie Butler, founder and force behind Woodlawn East Community and Neighbors (WECAN). The buildings she rescued and rehabbed saved affordable housing and lives. We are proud that she chose POAH to ensure their future. Mattie is missed but her good works live on.
