Bottle & Branch
Horticultural business specializing in floral design, interior plants and seasonal landscaping.
Warning: long-winded personal post 🥹
Back in 2011, when I first started Bottle & Branch, our first customers were Boka Restaurant Group and Graham Elliot. GE is no longer operating restaurants in Chicago, but thankfully, BRG most definitely is. We still cherish our partnership with many of the Boka Group projects, particularly Girl & The Goat, a soft spot for me personally having worked in the restaurant industry with Stephanie way back in 2000 (long live Vong!) and having written her first cookbook. It's been amazing watching our lives and companies evolve, and I'm grateful for a city that fosters creativity and owner-operated businesses. xo, Heather

Alas, you can now gobble up your lobster rolls alfresco and in peace, ensconced within the privacy of a greenery hedge as Ralph intended. Pinkies up, mes amies!

Our landscaping team is excitedly firming up plans and placing plant orders to bring the heat once it warms up. Here’s hoping everyone’s first weekend of the year is restorative, rejuvenating and filled with all the best mojo to propel into 2024. ✌️🧘♀️💪💚
Heading into the new year looking for all the color we can find! During the months ahead before spring blooms bring signs of life, our interiorscape plant pros are putting color in all corners that can support it. If you have good to great light, do the same! Anthuriums, bromeliads and croton are super sturdy specimens that hold color well in medium to high light. Here’s hoping the new year brings you color, light and all the magic these things ignite. ✌️☀️
As visions of sugar plums dance in your heads, we stay awake at night thinking of all the poinsettia we have to keep alive this time of year! A few tips for keeping yours going strong from our resident Plant Pro
🌱 Don’t forget that poinsettia are plants, and like any plant they need good light to thrive! Don’t stick baby in a corner if you can help it. (Yes, we know looking at the pics above this is the opposite, but do as we say not as we do.)
🌱 The biggest poinsettia mistake is overwatering! You want to keep the soil only lightly damp, not soaking wet. Let the top inch dry before watering again and make sure the water either drains freely into a saucer or at least doesn’t collect in the cachepot below.
🌱 You’ll notice the plant usually grows from a two-inch rockwool pod surrounded by potting soil and it sits slightly above the soil surface usually visible. The growers intentionally let the pod heave out of the soil surface slightly to avoid stem rot, so it’s best to avoid watering the center of the plant directly and focus on only watering the soil surrounding it.
You got this! And if all else fails, setting a resolution to do better next year is only a week or so away!
Heyyyy Chicago, shake off your holiday-party hangover and head over to today for the return of their winter market! Sip on a little hair-of-the-dog-that-bit-ya while supporting small local businesses and scoring handmade holiday gifts for yourself or loved ones. Happy holidays! 💚✌️

Our crew was at Soho today installing holiday decor and we were delighted to see that while the first-floor Čálli concept from is no más, the work we created for him lives on in various other incarnations. High tens to our Senior Designer for the work she put in on this project. 🙌
Thankful for loyal customers who reach out on special occasions to choose our creations for their gatherings. Receiving lovely photos of tables set for family and friends makes the craziness of the holidays worth it. From our B&B family to yours, thank you.

If you ask us, we think plants make a space. Our interiorscapes team has a knack for pairing the perfect pots and plants, taking into account aesthetics, lighting, usage and a host of other site specifics. Once we’ve designed and delivered, we’ll even come back weekly to maintain. Let us know how we can help and we’ll bring the green thumbs to you!

The last of the rudbeckia before we cut back, mulch in and wrap up our lil’ flower farm for the season. We still have heirloom mums that will bloom soon after cover from these cold nights but for the most part this 2023 local flower season has come to a close. Thanks to all of those who supported via weekly subscriptions, online orders and just old-school special requests. It’s been an honor and a privilege to grow flowers from seed to stem to vase for you. We hope to do it again soon. ✌️
The master of camouflage, the praying mantis, loves zinnia as much as we do.

Last week BOKA celebrated 20 years in business and we were honored to continue our partnership with them by providing our own-grown farm flowers for the shindig. From the landscaping to the interior plants to the moss wall to the weekly flowers and even the garnish for many a famous dish from megatalented we have partnered with BOKA, and its parent in every one of our 12 years in business, and it’s no small coincidence that our success has been bolstered by their success. Chicago’s hospitality industry is the definition of the word, and loyal beyond belief, with integrity and grit and passion and an unparalleled freedom for creativity that you just can’t replicate. It’s been amazing figuring out how to contribute and be a part of that while also fueling our own passion all at the same time. I digress! Congrats, BOKA, and keep on doin’ what you’re doin’! We will do the same.
