Uptown Historical Society
The Uptown Historical Society is part of the Uptown Chicago Commission, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) member-supported organization.
Our goal is to collect, preserve, and make available to all interested parties photographs, documents and accounts that reflect the rich history of the Uptown community of Chicago. We invite and encourage those who have items not included in our collection to add to and enrich our digital archives.
A discussion about country music, Uptown's Appalachian population, the plans for the ill-fated "Hank Williams Village," and a slice of the history of 1970s Uptown. All in one piece of journalism. https://beltmag.com/chicago-country-music-honky-tonk-prine-cowell/
