I recently met .roberto .After a short conversation he commissioned me to do a painting of his mugshot when he was 19. Now this man is free and I consider a good friend with one amazing story to tell. Cheers to your freedom my brother! The story below was written by his angel of a lawyer.

On September 11, 1994, this handsome
young man, Robert Almodovar was taken from his family
and friends and kidnapped by the criminal justice system.
He was framed by dirty police officers and convicted of a
double murder he did not commit. Despite the fact that he
had no prior convictions and was only 19 years old, the
State sought the death penalty for him. The trial judge
barely spared Robert by sentencing him to life in prison
instead. Robert spent 23 years in a maximum security
prison. During this time, he spent 1 hour a day outside
and 23 hours stuck in a cell no bigger than a New York
City closet. Since the day we met Robert approximately
eight years ago, we knew he was incredibly special.
Somehow he always greeted us with a big smile despite
only meeting through a glass barricade. His optimism and
charisma shone through the four walls of the prison and
he managed to even light up the dark and dreary visiting
room. He never lost hope that one day the truth would
prevail and he would be released. Exactly four years ago
today, on April 14, 2017, Robert walked out of prison a
free man. Since his release, he has done his best to live
life to the fullest. He never lets the obstacles in life stand
in the way of his path to happiness. We celebrate his
freedom every chance we get but today, especially, we
celebrate the incredible man he is and the life he has left
to live. We love you so much Robert and we’re so thankful
to have you in our life. Cheers to freedom and your release day anniversary!

I’m happy to officially announce my collaboration with & NCG hospitality. This fall we will be painting this 90ft mural on the side of the brand new Moxy hotel in Madison WI. This will be our first collaboration & our largest mural to date thus far. The beautiful artwork was done by & I’m grateful to have been chosen to help make this project a reality. We will have capturing this entire process. TilI then, you can catch Cinque and I this spring/ summer in the streets of Chicago slangin art!
