We had an amazing time this past week in Chincoteague giving Victorian Cottage a face lift ahead of this summer season. We hope you enjoy the freshly painted walls and local art and furniture additions when you book our little slice of heaven for your upcoming summer vacation. We’ll have fresh new photos on the Seaside Vacation Rentals site soon but here’s a quick amateur preview.

Late August and September are ideal times to visit Chincoteague. The weather is amazing and the mosquitos and tourists are down. This view from Don’s Seafood is 150 yards from your front porch if you stay at Victorian Cottage.

And the yard is refreshed and looking beautiful to welcome you as you arrive. We’re back in Fairfax after an amazing week at the house and I can’t recommend a spring visit to the island more. We hope to host you in our house soon.

Spring refreshes are done and Victorian Cottage is ready for the spring and summer visitors. We’re especially excited for the remodeled Chincoteague Room designed for brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, and anyone that wants an amazing Chincoteague experience. Our son Ty figured out how to create a DYI hammock in the new room. We hope you have as much fun making the room perfect for your stay.

The cherry blossoms bloom in Chincoteague too! The reason my family bought Victorian Cottage was for the off season as much as the summer. The community is great, the amenities are wonderful, like the recently completed Brianna’s Kindness Park that’s a one minute walk from our house, and you can enjoy everything the Eastern Shore has to offer before the tourists show up. If you’ve been to Chincoteague before or have heard of it but never visited I highly recommend coming in April or May to get a true feel for the island. We’re going to be sad to head back to northern Virginia at the end of this week but we’re putting a lot of love into the house this week to make it a wonderful destination for you this spring and summer.

We had a great time preparing for the holidays this weekend. Victorian Cottage is ready for a Christmas by the Sea. If you don’t have plans for next weekend, Chincoteague is bringing back their annual Christmas parade after a Covid hiatus. Victorian Cottage is available and we’d love you to experience the parade while staying in our beautiful home.

Chincoteague isn’t just a summer destination. Off-season visits offer experiences you can’t have during tourist season like Waterfowl Weekend when the service road on the island is open to visitors offering a view of the island you can’t get any other time. Victorian Cottage is open for visitors year round.

Chincoteague Oyster Festival - Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce The Chincoteague Oyster Festival is held the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend to promote the seafood industry and mark the arrival of the oyster season.

Wendy and I are blown away by the number of people that love our favorite place, Chincoteague. Victorian Cottage is booked through the summer but “off season” Chincoteague is wonderful and our home offers great access to all Chincoteague has to offer year round.

Our 10yo daughter painted this today and we think it will look perfect on the walls of the Victorian Cottage!

We are very excited to say that today the Basinger’s are now the proud owners of Victorian Cottage. We are so grateful to the Thornton’s for passing on such a wonderful house. We are so excited to share our family’s favorite place with you.
