As the Summer Olympics come to a close, we hosted our very own games, and the competition was stiff! We had a blast with bowling, bean bag toss, balloon bop, and velcro catch.

Bringing you "A Dose of Dove"... a collection of joy-filled days across Wisconsin in July!

With all of us captivated by the Olympics this year, we thought it would be fun to make a tasty treat that pairs well with cheering on our favorite athletes! We made soft pretzels, and they were delicious. Warm, fluffy and chewy... these hit the spot!

We spent a fantastic afternoon making tie dye pillow cases! We had so much fun creating different patterns and color schemes that made each pillow case unique. We were also lucky to have amazing weather that we could enjoy the courtyard and smell our flowers that have been thriving all summer long!

Congratulations to Bailee, our June 2024 Employee of the Month! “Bailee is a very hard worker! She continuously puts in effort to make sure her job is completed, as well as picking up hours to support her team. She has great rapport with her coworkers, as well as the residents. She always has a smile on her face and she has the most positive attitude. Thank you, Bailee, for all of your hard work," shared Environmental Services Director Sara Taylor.

We enjoyed a fantastic performance by Ryan Herman this afternoon, as he showed off his talents both with his voice and on the piano! A special thank you as well to our nutritional services team who always make us sweet treats to accompany live music performances!

OakLeaf Clinics - Dermatology is moving! Starting July 29, we will see patients at our new location in the Dove Healthcare Building (4th Floor), 2815 Co Hwy I, Chippewa Falls.

What an awesome day at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair! We got to pet the barn animals, rock out to some live music, enjoy tasty funnel cakes and lemonade, and admire the 4-H projects. We did it all! The fair was such a fun experience for everyone.

We soaked in the sun this week as we played one of our favorite games, Yard-Zee! Similar to the game Yahtzee, but we used large wooden cubes as our dice! We love getting to spend the afternoons out on the beautiful courtyard.

Summer and Shandy made another visit, and we loved every second of it! They have grown a bit since we last saw them, but they still like to snuggle on our laps! It's been a fun week visiting with all kinds of animals.

We love getting bunny visits from Fluffy and Penelope! These sweet bunnies left smiles on everyone’s faces!

We spent a beautiful afternoon at Irvine Park seeing the animals and enjoying a sweet treat from Olson’s Ice Cream! We look forward to going a few more times this summer!

Exciting Announcement... A recent update to Nursing Home Compare by CMS designated Dove Healthcare - Regional Vent Center with an overall 5 STAR RATING!

In 2023, the average star rating for Wisconsin skilled nursing facilities was 2.98 and nationally it was 2.87.

This rating is based on quality measures, staffing ratios, and annual health inspection results. Star ratings are assigned to each of these categories and the categories are combined to calculate an overall rating.

To our entire team, we are so proud of and thankful for you! We can’t thank you enough for all you do, every day to put the needs of our patients and residents first. Your commitment to excellence through quality, compassionate care does not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to Megan, our April 2024 Employee of the Month! “Megan is one of the sweetest human beings I know. She is so compassionate and loved by the residents and her co-workers. She is currently climbing the ladder with her nursing career, and has went from CNA to medication aide. She will soon be graduating with her nursing degree, and we couldn’t be more happy for her. Congratulations, Megan! Well deserved," shared Director of Nursing Ashley Spaeth.

Megan responded, “I absolutely love my job because there’s nothing more fulfilling than caring for others. I find no greater joy that when I see smiles on my residents’ faces. The happiness it brings to my heart is indescribable. Thank you!”

The beach was brought to us, and we had such a good time building sand castles! We felt like kids again, playing in the sand and creating some impressive towers!

We are happy to announce the 2024 recipients of the Healthcare Careers Scholarship presented by the Dove Healthcare Community Foundation!

Recipients include Juri Apanecatl-Juarez of Barron; Paige Rufledt of Bloomer; Melanie Krumenauer of Chippewa Falls; Katie Rassbach and Travis Bauer of Eau Claire; Chloe Gunderson of Osseo-Fairchild; and Ellie Pacholke of Rice Lake.

Established in 2019 to recognize and encourage high school seniors pursuing a career in a healthcare related field at an accredited technical college or four-year university, applicants included with their completed application an essay about why they chose a career in healthcare, educational and career goals, influential persons or events, opportunities they had to work or observe their chosen career field, as well as how the scholarship would affect their future education.

Foundation Chair Joe Muench shared, “Our scholarship selection committee had the wonderful honor of reviewing applications from many talented and driven students. The workforce needs in healthcare are great and the opportunities are endless, so it was exciting to have a glimpse into the aspiring, young minds ready to take on the challenge. Our foundation is so happy to play a small role in supporting their bright futures.”

The Dove Healthcare Community Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has a special interest in advancing the healthcare workforce in Wisconsin, as well as supporting programs and initiatives that aim to enhance the lives of seniors, including Veterans and those with a chronic or complex health condition or rehabilitative need.

Our recreation director, Liz, brought in her puppies, Summer and Shandy, for their first visit to Dove Healthcare - Regional Vent Center! Their young and playful energy kept the residents and team members on their toes. We loved seeing all of the smiles!

Our cheeseball activity was full of laughter! In fact, we had so much fun throwing cheeseballs at each other’s heads, that time got away from us. Shower caps lathered in shaving cream made the perfect landing zone for cheeseballs that whizzed across the common area all afternoon long!

As we reflect on Memorial Day and look forward to Independence Day, we wanted to take some time to write thank you cards to Veterans to thank them for their service, sacrifice, and bravery. These will be sent to men and women who have served our country and in remembrance of the individuals we have lost protecting our freedoms.

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and we'd like to say "thank you for all you do" to our speech language pathologists! Speech therapists help their patients to improve communication, memory, cognition, or ability to swallow. Patients participate in speech therapy to treat side effects of stroke, Parkinson's, dementia, and voice or swallowing disorders.

We are excited to introduce you to Mindy Strese, Dove Healthcare's VP of Clinical Operations! Mindy began her career in post-acute care over 15 years ago as a CNA. Since then, she has climbed the nursing career ladder to LPN, RN, and director of nursing.

“Mindy has over ten years of clinical leadership experience and a proven track record of delivering quality outcomes at multiple locations. She will be responsible for establishing consistent clinical outcomes throughout the newly expanded Dove Healthcare footprint. Mindy will also be a strong resource and mentor as we seek to develop new clinical leaders. We are thrilled to have Mindy be a part of Dove Healthcare’s future,” commented CEO Jeremy Kiley.

Mindy shared, “I am proud to continue the family tradition of nursing, following in the footsteps of my grandmother and mother who both served in geriatric nursing. Their dedication and compassion inspired me to pursue my nursing career. As a director of nursing, I've led and managed diverse teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. I am very proud to have achieved three deficiency-free surveys during my DON tenure. I have also had the privilege of serving on the Wisconsin Director of Nursing Council. For ten years, I have been actively engaged in advocating for post-acute care, lobbying for CNA staffing solutions at the state capital, and supporting the advancement of WisCaregiver Careers. I love spending time with my husband and three boys, especially when we're fishing, gardening, and enjoying the great outdoors.”

Several team members recently completed pilot training through Wisconsin Bike Fed so they can participate in the Cycling Without Age program and safely pilot our trishaw bikes! Way to go, team!

The training includes learning rules of the road, trishaw handling skills, best practices for maintenance, and much more! Pilot training is crucial to understanding safety protocols to make each and every ride joyful.

Team members from Dove Healthcare – Orchard Hills Assisted Living, West Eau Claire, and Regional Vent Center include Lindsey, Liz, Emily, Kennedy, Cayci, and Rachel. We look forward to getting out and about on the awesome trishaw bike with our residents!

We are happy to announce the recent purchase of two care centers in Spooner, WI!

Maple Ridge Care Center is now Dove Healthcare - Spooner, and The Villas at Maple Ridge is now Dove Healthcare - Spooner Assisted Living. The acquisition includes the attached Spooner Business Center where 10 local businesses lease space.

Dove Healthcare CEO Jeremy Kiley stated, "Spooner is just a short drive from our Barron County locations. We look forward to expanding our outreach and collaborating with Spooner's established leadership team to advance quality care in Washburn County."

We’re celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week May 12-18 with the theme “Radiant Memories: A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio”! For many of our elders, radio was the main source of entertainment and news as they were growing up. This theme embraces that time of shared music and stories over the radio waves, allowing those who lived it to reminisce and those of us who grew up with TV to perhaps learn just a bit about the Golden Age of Radio. We have a number of special events this week to celebrate with everyone!
