The seniors at Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence in Chula Vista are taking care of their heart health at the annual ❤️event!
Residents received a free blood pressure screening from local volunteer nurses before participating in a Love Your Heart walkathon around the building.
Silvercrest Wellness Director Karin Ingrande cheered for each senior as they rounded the building, keeping track of how many laps they've individually accomplished. For each lap completed, a sticker was added to their race bib. Many of the seniors broke their previous records from last year's event, with one senior walking over 2 miles!
We are thankful to have teamed up with Live Well San Diego to participate in the Love Your Heart week and empower our seniors to take control of their heart health!

The seniors of Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence in Chula Vista received a special Valentine's Day card handmade with love by the combined efforts of children at The Salvation Army Kroc Center - San Diego and Silvercrest Wellness Director Karin Ingrande.

With help from Kroc Center staff, over 70 Valentine's Day cards with messages of love were created by children as young as 1 to 10 years old who attend Kroc Center's Playcare and Preschool programs. Each card included a drawing or finger painted picture and a heartfelt message. The name and age of the child who created the card was also included.

Silvercrest Wellness Director Karin Ingrande arraigned a Valentine's Day themed photoshoot for the seniors so that the cards would include a portrait of the participating resident on the front cover of their card.

The senior residents were so thankful, with one senior being brought to tears of joy upon receiving the gift. This combined efforts of love between Kroc Center staff, Kroc kids, and Silvercrest staff made a for memorable Valentine's Day gift to the senior residents at Silvercrest in Chula Vista.

Thank you Sharp Healthcare System for the Sharp HealthCare Conference. Our independent living residents enjoyed the great Speakers, Info, Lunch and Prizes and for Renewing Life Transportation to get us there and back safely.

The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps by preparing and serving warm holiday meals for the seniors of Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence in Escondido. The seniors were excited to receive a festive homemade dinner of ham, veggies, mashed potatoes, and a bread roll. Easter goodie bags were also given out to the residents. Providing happiness through a warm meal and a smile is a great way to celebrate Holy Week!

The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps had a joyful night of giving as they delivered Christmas gifts and homemade holiday meals to over 100 senior residents at Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence in Escondido. Staff and volunteers went door-to-door dressed in festive outfits as they spread holiday spirit throughout the residence!

Happy Thanksgiving from Chula Vista Silvercrest. We are grateful for a lot especially music and the Turkey Trot. Every resident earned a colorful dot for each lap around building. Many residents walked a mile or more. 🧡🍁👏🏻🎼

Congrats to our Chula Vista Silvercest Resident. Jeanie is the first among 25 seniors living independently in The Salvation Army HUD affordable Senior Housing Residences to graduate from the Senior Tech Program. Everyone will receive a free IPad once they complete the tech training classes and learn at their own pace. Thank you to the generous grant funders and Senior Tech Program for helping older adults stay connected and resilient.👏🏻❤️

Oceanside Silvercrest celebrated Mother's Day with a Muffins For Mom event last Friday. Several residents enjoyed a delicious chocolate chip, banana nut, chocolate, blueberry or lemon poppyseed muffin along with a yogurt parfait and beverage.

To celebrate , our Oceanside Silvercrest location passed out goodie bags provided by Echelon San Diego to their residents. 18 residents participated in the event. Oceanside Silvercrest Wellness Director Carmen Irving also made sure that residents received a flyer invitation for outdoor Sunday Service at The Salvation Army - Oceanside.

Yesterday we celebrated Easter a little early thanks to The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps. Goodie bags, holiday cards, Easter War Cry magazines, & a delicious Easter Roasted Turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, & gravy was delivered to our seniors. Happy Easter!

The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps celebrated Valentine's Day with the seniors at Escondido Silvercrest. Chef Dave shared his love ❤ tonight with a homemade spaghetti dinner, dinner roll, & yummy Valentine's treat bags for everyone! Each senior also received a hand written card made with love from the Corp's ESL Volunteer Teachers who miss their weekly classes so much! 💘 Love was in the air as we went door to door celebrating our Senior Residents!

Silvercrest Chula Vista is helping their seniors stay connected to their loved ones with the help of dedicated volunteers in the Tech for Seniors project. This project is a partnership between Community Congregational Development Group, the South County Action Network, Sarsis, and The Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence.

The Tech for Seniors project provides iPads to older adults along with training from tech-savvy volunteers in an effort to prevent social isolation during the pandemic.

Happy Chinese New year!  The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps is preparing to celebrate the Chinese New Years with our Silvercrest Escondido Seniors!

Chula Vista Silvercrest had our first Pfizer Vaccine day this past Sunday. Thanks to the CVS Pharmacy team, 48 of our senior residents received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine shot.

The friendly CVS Pharmacist and Nurse came well prepared and reassured our residents by answering any questions. Recipients filled out online permission forms well in advance of this visit.

Our residents spent time socializing with others while maintaining safe distancing and enjoying healthy snacks. Silvercrest staff monitored the residents for 15 minutes after successfully receiving the vaccine. No resident displayed any reactions.

Wellness Director Karin Ingrande said "With the unending support of our upper management and The Salvation Army we will keep doing our best at Silvercrest to stay safe and successful during the Pandemic."

Our amazing 83 residents at Chula Vista Silvercrest donated brand new toys to the Salvation Army for families in need. The donation bins are overflowing with gifts from the old to the young in the spirit of Christmas to give with grateful hearts for all the support and care the seniors have received this year during the pandemic.
