The City of Chula Vista celebrated a momentous occasion today with the groundbreaking ceremony of the UniverCity project. This event marks a significant step towards realizing the city's long-held vision of enhancing higher education, employment, and workforce development opportunities. The much-anticipated project will bring a state-of-the-art 168,000-square-foot Class A building and Chula Vista's first new City library since 1995. Situated within the Millenia Office Think Campus, Phase 1 is underway and anticipated to be completed by fall 2025.

Remember, boil water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute and let it cool before using. California American Water anticipates resolving the problem within 48-72 hours. California American Water will notify customers when the boil water advisory is lifted.

. Secure Outdoor Items: Bring in or secure any outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose items that could fly away in strong winds.

Today, SANDAG, in partnership with the City of Chula Vista and the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), announced a $21.5 million grant from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program for the Palomar Street Grade Separation Project.

This project involves creating a grade separation for Palomar Street, effectively separating it from a passenger and freight rail corridor, and eliminating a rail crossing that often delays drivers while enhancing safety measures for pedestrians and cyclists who travel along this corridor. The planned grade separation will lower Palomar Street under the MTS rail tracks.

Thank you to the U.S. Department of Transportation for investing in this project, our dedicated congressional delegation for their advocacy, Caltrans, SANDAG, City Staff, and the many supportive community groups.

Today, I was honored to attend the re-opening of Lauderbach Park after being closed for more than a year for renovations. The 3.9-acre park now features new basketball courts, a new synthetic turf multi-purpose field with lighting, new sidewalks, tot lots, restrooms, and enhanced landscaping.

Our families now have an outdoor space for fun, to relax, exercise, and enjoy nature. I look forward to seeing our community enjoy it.

Special thanks to the State of California and Chula Vista voters for allowing us to improve this park through Measure P. I would also like to thank our City staff, community partners, and everyone involved in making this possible.

Hoy, tuve el honor de asistir a la reapertura de Lauderbach Park después de haber estado cerrado por más de un año por renovaciones. El parque de 3.9 acres ahora cuenta con nuevas canchas de baloncesto, un nuevo campo multiusos de césped sintético con iluminación, nuevas aceras, áreas de juegos para niños, baños y jardines mejorados.

Nuestras familias ahora tienen un espacio al aire libre para divertirse, relajarse, hacer ejercicio y disfrutar de la naturaleza. ¡Espero ver a nuestra comunidad disfrutarlo!
