As the 2024 Paris Olympics come to a close, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to athletes worldwide for their remarkable displays of athleticism and sportsmanship as they proudly represented their nations!
Team USA, with athletes hailing from across the country, including many from Ohio, has made us especially proud. As a K-12 design firm, we are honored to work with the districts where some of these athletes began their journeys. Schools play a pivotal role in shaping a student's path, and this achievement is a testament to the dedication of both the athletes and their communities. Congratulations, Team USA!

Not only is it a great learning opportunity to see the construction process underway, but it is also very rewarding to see the designs and drawings brought to life. We're so excited to see both of these branches open up to their neighborhoods soon!
Some of our Cincinnati folks braved the hot weather for an exciting FC Cincinnati game last night! It was the first time in their history that all four goals were scored within 10 minutes, allowing them to bring to the win not a moment too soon. A crazy night for the team!

"I’m excited to join the ranks of the 2500 African American Architects that have blazed a trail in their respective communities, representing just 2% of US Architects. I am excited to return to outreach camps, university studios, and our educational client spaces to share this accomplishment with underrepresented students, with the message that they can achieve their dreams too. I’m excited; not because achieving licensure is the end of a road, but another step taken on a journey of impactful opportunities. I am so thankful to those who have taken this step before me, and excited for those who follow, as together we build a diverse design and advocacy community."
Welcome to the first post of our newest series, Spaces & Places, which explores a variety of programmatic elements across our three studios! Today we take a look at the impact of learning labs within schools.
Learning Labs are essential for enriching student learning by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. These innovative spaces foster hands-on experiences, encouraging students to explore, experiment, and engage with concepts tangibly. By providing opportunities for interactive learning, learning labs enhance critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of academic subjects.
Effective projects should find creative and functional solutions to the needs of the people they serve.
The Center for Early Learning at Columbus State Community College saw an opportunity to address not only a need for quality education, but respond to a need for educators. With this renovation, the college has been able to support a program that benefits both groups, creating educators with real-world experience in the classroom. "Becoming NCIDQ certified has been a goal of mine ever since I first learned about it in college. For myself, the industry as a whole, and for our clients, this certification signifies my commitment to the profession. It's not just about ensuring spaces are aesthetically pleasing but also safe, accessible, and compliant with regulations that protect occupants. NCIDQ certification validates my expertise in creating environments that promote health, safety, and wellbeing, and it helps to elevate standards within the profession."

A decade ago we embarked on a mission to become the best education design firm in the country. To reach this goal, we recognized the need to differentiate ourselves through creative thinking. Traditional school design had been stagnant for years, but the education system was evolving to teach and learn in new ways. Embracing project-based learning, we reimagined spaces to support contemporary educational needs. The results were revolutionary, going beyond just the classroom to enhance the student experience.
To learn more about our journey to change a century-old design style and the transformative impact of our work on educational spaces, check out Jeffrey’s interview with the Cincinnati Business Courier at the link below!

"I wanted to get licensed so that I could call myself an Architect. It's a title that requires creativity, leadership, and discipline, and it is earned through the process of licensure. From sleepless studio nights to grueling examinations; I wanted to prove to myself that I had what it takes to achieve my lifelong personal goal. It is a privilege to call myself an Architect, and I couldn't be prouder to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those who have encouraged and inspired me along the way."

That's why when it came to the planning and designing of their new facility, Liberty-Benton Local Schools was highly involved throughout the process. The result? A K-8 building that is built around the student, prioritizing security and high-performing learning environments.
