Winter Weather Preparation Tips: ⛄❄
After making the trip to the store for milk, bread, and toilet paper,😊 be sure your home and water lines are protected from freezing temperatures. A few simple steps can make all the difference in preventing costly damages from a burst water pipe.
1.) Be sure all foundation vents are closed.
2.) Keep water moving thru the pipes by allowing a small trickle of water to flow.
3.) Open cabinets near sinks to allow warmer air to circulate around pipes.
4.) Disconnect all outdoor hose pipes and protect hose bibbs from freezing temperatures.
5.) Keep garage doors closed as much as possible. Many homes have water heaters and water pipes in the garage area.
6.) Know the location of your meter and shut off valves.
7.) Report broken or missing meter lids to our District Office to prevent frozen meters.
8.) If you need to remove the meter box top at your meter, BE SURE TO PUT IT BACK IN PLACE IMMEDIATELY.
9.) If you suspect that your meter is frozen, call the District Office first. NEVER try to thaw the meter with an open flame heat source. This will cause damage to the meter and electronic reading device. Damage caused by this type of heating may result in replacement costs being passed on to the customer.
10.) The majority of the “no water” calls we receive during freezing temperatures are due to a frozen pipe on the customer side. Please use extreme care when attempting to thaw water lines. Any type of unattended heat source is unsafe and can cause a fire.
In the event of an emergency, a member of our on-call service crew is available 24/7 by calling the main office number at 931-387-3387.

UPDATE 7:45pm New line has been completed, they are backfilling the ditch now. If all continues to go as planned we should be able to start opening up valves within the hour. There will continue to be areas with low pressure until the system stabilizes. Multiple flushing valves will be opened around the area to help alleviate air in the lines. This is normal after a leak of this magnitude. If you experience air in your lines, turn on a faucet on the cold water side. Thank you all for your patience while we worked to fix the issue.
UPDATE: 5:45pm Service crew is laying new pipe to reroute around a new footing for the bridge. They have laid 60ft of pipe and have another 20ft to go before they can tie it back in.
UPDATE: 3:00pm Valves are being closed off to isolate the area affected by the leak.
There is a main line leak on Hwy 48 where the new bridge construction is taking place over Louise Creek.
CUD Service crew en route. We will update when we have more information.
Update: 6:20pm. Second leak repaired, will begin to open up valves very soon. Some residences may experience air in the lines. This is normal. To alleviate the air, turn your cold water faucet on and let it run for a bit.
There has been two leaks today in the Palmyra area. CUD service crew remains on-site and diligently working to get everyone back on as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
UPDATE: 11:01 The main line leak has been repaired.
We appreciate your patience as the system rebuilds stability. During this time you may notice water that appears white as it comes out your faucet or rattling in your pipes. This is indicative of the presence of air in the system. The water is safe to drink. The air will dissipate by drawing the water out of the faucet and letting it stand for a few minutes. The District is running several blow offs to get the air out of the system but some of it will ultimately wind up in the customers service line.
Rattling in your pipes may be alleviated by opening your cold water faucets and letting them run for a few minutes.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
The District has a main line leak on Belmont Road. This will affect the 700-1100 blocks of Belmont Rd. Service Crew is in route. We hope to get this line back up as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.
The District had a main line leak in the 5400 block of Marion Rd. this morning. The leak has now been repaired and the lines have been put back into service.

Biter Rd.
Old Marion Rd.
Moorefield Rd.
Conatser Rd.
