Congratulations to the recipients of the Tools for Trades Scholarship awarded at this ceremony last week! This new program helps graduates jump-start their careers by providing them with a set of professional-grade tools required by employers in the fields of electricity, plumbing, and HVAC service.

This program is the result of the vision of Jeff Vance, President and Owner of Gwyn Services. Jeff approached the Shallow Ford Foundation with his concept and we were thrilled to partner with him to help in bringing it to life. A special thanks also goes to Mike Fisher and to the Emily Millis-Hiatt Fund of the High Point Community Foundation for their financial support and encouragement of this program. We hope to expand this to other local colleges in the future with the help of donations from individuals, businesses, and other organizations.

To the students: congratulations! Your journey is just beginning, and we can't wait to see where it leads!

This past Friday, the Foundation and the Town of Lewisville jointly sponsored a Holiday Open House to celebrate the season and another year of programming at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center with beautiful decorations, refreshments, and festive jazz music provided by the Blue Hat Group from Reagan High School!

Thanks to a grant from the Emily Millis-Hiatt Fund of the High Point Community Foundation, the Foundation has the opportunity to not only provide another grant cycle for programming but also establish a permanent fund through matching dollars so that high-quality programming is offered at the community center year after year. Our goal is to endow the fund, and you can help make that happen! To donate to the Mary Alice Warren Community Center Program Fund, please visit: sff.gives/mawccprograms
