Hey friends! We hope everyone is staying warm and safe! We can't wait to see you on Sunday! Please know that we are keeping a close eye on the weather. The space should be warm and cozy, but we will let you know by Sunday morning if there are any changes.
Please note that at this time general admission is full. If you are no longer planning to attend, please reach out to [email protected] so that we can let people off the waitlist. If you are currently on the waitlist and have not received confirmation from us that general admission space has opened up, please do not plan on attending - if you show up, you will likely be turned away at the door. We are hard at work planning our next event, so don't worry if we miss you this time around!
Did you know that roller skating works all of your major leg muscles including quads, glutes, and calves.
Getting into good habits will make your family healthier and will strengthen your bond!👨👩👦
Nutrition is a key component to living a healthy lifestyle🍏 Thank you Coach Carol for teaching the students about nutrition and how to make healthy snacks!
Rink-In-The-Box is going to be at many community events this September. We can't wait to see you there!🛼🍂
Here is another snippet from our Turning Wheels interviews. This time we caught up with Coach Talise to hear about what she was teaching the students during the camp.
Coach Ken is always there to help and support the students on & off the rink🛼
The Turning Wheels Camp not only taught the students about roller skating, they also got literacy lessons and books from Shawn Literacy 📚
Did you know that art has a ton of benefit for kids? For example, doing art stimulates creativity, problem solving skills, and helps them emotionally. 🎨
Here is the list of our Rink-In-The-Box events for August 😃 It's going to be a great month!!
There are a ton of benefits of roller skating such as:
- You can burn up to 600 calories an hour.
- It provides a complete aerobic workout.
- It is easy on your joints.
- It is a very social activity.
The Turning Wheels camp was a SUCCESS! We had so much fun meeting the kids and teaching them about all of our H.E.A.L aspects.
We wanted to give a special thanks to & for teaching the students about the ARTS! 🕺🎨
➡️ Talise Campbell from Djapo Cultural Arts Center taught the students choreography to accompany a drum rhythm.
➡️ Don & Shirley Wells from Ohio City Shirts gave the children total creative freedom to personalize their new helmets.
DAY 3
Roller Skating is just a component of the Turning Wheel’s camp! We have a curriculum. Thank you and for providing the Arts and Literacy to H.E.A.L.
Thank you
Monday’s the start of the annual “Turning wheel’s youth roller skating camp. Congratulations to all registered students. You are in for a treat!
Not only will you be working on the basic roller skating principles. We have brought on some well known professional community partners to focus on our H.E.A.L. curriculum Health,Exercise,Arts,Literacy !
Thank you 🙏 in advance Last but definitely not least we cannot forget our community sponsors for funding these programs we Thank you for your generous support and donations!!!
Kenneth Perdue
During our Turning Wheels camp the students will follow our H.E.A.L curriculum.👇
- The HEALTH portion teaches the children about the importance of creating healthy habits and how to live a healthy lifestyle. 🧠
- The EXERCISE portion teaches the children about their bodies and why it is important to stay physically active. 🏃♀️
- The ARTS section lets the kids creatively express themselves through dance and art. 🎨
- The LITERACY portion is the overall education of good nutrition, exercise, and mental health through art. 📖
The RollinBuckeyez Foundation's vision is to create:
- a safe environment that creates a culture of unity and respect
- a strong community within the Cleveland area
- a place where children can learn about self- expression
Can anyone learn how to skate?
➡ YES! Roller skating is a great activity for young kids, as well as adults. It is something that is never too late to learn, so lace up your skates and get out there! 😄
Our Turning Wheels Skate Camp is set to provide 10 hours of training to children in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The children involved in our camp will learn key skills that they will be able to carry to adulthood.
