We have a client who likes oceanliners and was redecorating their living room. It gave us an opportunity to hire Solar Antique Tiles to have some custom tiles made for their fireplace and painted/glazed in a nautical theme.

‘Found this drone shot on another post this morning. It shows the garage addition we designed for Charles Platt’s Gwinn, the Mather Estate on Lake Erie outside of Cleveland.

The fan-shaped decoration in the tympanum of the pediment was salvaged from a house that got torn down in Hunting Valley. The old house had been designed by the same architectural firm that did the design for the Cleveland Museum of Art and the West Side Market in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland... Hubbell and Benes.

Some may remember the conceptual drawings of a project to make-over the Sheoga Hardwood Flooring Co.'s headquarters in Burton, Ohio. It's mostly finished at this point. Here is a picture before and after. The showroom and offices inside were also overhauled.

We are participating in the Venice Masked 2023 event and exhibition in Venice September 30 with the support of local companies, Hardwood Lumber Company, Mouldings One, and Sheoga Hardwood Flooring.

This house from the 1970’s got a new roof, siding, remodeled trim details, a new front porch and a gambrel roof with dormers added over the garage. The project presented a great opportunity to upgrade the look and feel of the place. We’re working on the inside now.

The project of our addition to the Gates Mills Historical Society has begun - mid August, 2023. The old Southwick House was salvaged from its original location on River Road and moved into the center of Gates Mills in 1946 where it became the Historical Society... that was over 75 years ago.

A special thank you to GMHS President Marcia Anselmo! She patiently overcame all administrative and regulatory hurdles allowing the start of construction on the museum's new Kish Family Gallery.

My next door neighbors have been planning this addition for many years. We're finally moving forward with it.

Scary and disorienting things about modern architecture:

Detlef Lienau, the Danish-born American Architect who studied at the EDBA under Henri Labrouste and has the dubious distinction of having introduced the roof a la Mansart to the United States, also designed this special expose on the classical orders on Broadway just south of the bend at 10th Street.

We were recently told that the narrowness of the sidewalks on this stretch of Euclid Avenue in Cleveland was supposed to enliven and energize the pedestrian activity.

It looks like the house on Sanibel Island is still there, but almost all the vegetation in the coastal protection zone is gone - not sure how the turtles will deal with this.

This is the inside face of a door being repaired for a house in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland.

We just got a commission to build a full size replica of the old Joseph Swift House that was originally built in the 1840's and burned down in the 1920's. This 1-1/2" + 1'-0" model was built back in the 1990's but was lost in a flood.

They are almost finished installing the mechanical equipment related to a pool house, pool and hot tub on a project started two years ago... we're thinking the pool and hot tub will be open by July, making a start to finish time of about 27 months providing there are no more months-long delays due to the virus.
