The 38th Akron Antiquarian Book & Paper Fair is just 5 days away, opening on March 29 (from 3-8pm). Cooper's Papers, a dealer from Lebanon, OH, will be joining us with a selection of unique and affordable books, ephemera, early Northern Ohio photographs as well as several special items ranging from a bound volume of Sartain's Magazine from 1851 that includes an early printing of Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe to a sammelband of five 19th century novels, one of which is an 1845 printing of Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen to a fine folio set of Animate Creation from 1885 and more. John S. Knight Center, March 29, 3-8pm and March 30, 10am-4pm. Hope to see you at the Fair!

BOOK COLLECTING 101! Interested in book collecting? Heading to the Akron Antiquarian Book & Paper Show this March? Have no idea where to begin? Or, perhaps you are looking to up your collecting game? Join us on February 22 for NOBS Forum with Norman Graubart, proprietor of the Cleveland Book Company, to learn where to start. Norm has been collecting books since his childhood, but has sharpened his skills through the discipline of the trade. His talk will cover some of the basics of how to go about starting a book collection, how to identify a first edition, how to navigate the online marketplace, how best to maintain your books, and red flags to look for when you’re buying books.
