Patrol Officer Ryan Hinkle of Cleveland Police District 3 has been named Police Officer of the Month for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Lt. Stephen Beckner shared, “Patrol Officer Hinkle had a history with a distraught male at the Greyhound Station who was clearly out of options for transportation. Without hesitation, Officer Hinkle purchased a ticket for the male to Canton, Ohio, asking nothing in return, even after the man offered to reimburse him.
“This act of kindness would have gone unnoticed if not for a random video review, and I believe it aligns with the goals of the Cleveland Police Foundation’s Officer of the Month award,” Beckner said. Read more:

Good work, Second District and Cleveland Division of Police! Shooting suspect confessed and was arrested.
On October 22, 2024, around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 4100 block of Fulton, near Estabrook Recreation Center.
Two individuals sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and have since been treated and released from the hospital. Upon arrival, officers found a 27-year-old female victim with gunshot wounds and provided first aid until Cleveland EMS transported her to the hospital. A 38-year-old male victim arrived at the hospital via private transport.
During the investigation at a nearby business, detectives from the 2nd District identified and detained a male suspect matching the shooter’s description. He was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The 33-year-old male suspect confessed to the shooting during an interview and was subsequently arrested.
On October 24, 2024, he was charged with two counts of felonious assault, along with additional charges for possessing weapons while under disability and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, pending Grand Jury review.
Chief Dorothy Todd praised the officers for their thorough work, stating, “This is a prime example of how our officers gather critical information on the scene to assist our detectives. The follow-up investigation was crucial in making this arrest."
