Thank you YSU Maag Library for highlighting this story of the evolution of women in athletics at Youngstown State University. It is important to learn this history and remind ourselves that there is still work needed to fully support the needs of today's athletes within and outside the education sector.

Teresa Tamburino is one of the trailblazers mentioned in this piece, and even 50 years later, her impact continues to have ripple effects. Her daughter, Play Gap Executive Director, Barb Anthony, carries on the fight for gender inclusion, equity, and accessibility in sports across Northeast Ohio and beyond.
