O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest. Look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your son. They share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

"While death can be overwhelming and often overshadows our ability to find joy, by focusing on the Resurrection we wipe away those feelings of despair. Joy is integral to our relationship with our loved ones and begs the question; would you erase the time spent with the deceased if you could be spared the pain of their death? We mourn because we love, and grief exists because of the joy we felt."
