Oral Contraceptive Pills might be the first thing that comes to mind when you think "birth control." Regardless of the type you use, it's a very common contraceptive.

Most brands of OCPs have to be prescribed by a physician. The only exception is Opill, the only over-the-counter birth control pill.

We're celebrating by tackling a common misconception.

The belief that disabled people don't have s*x keeps disabled people from receiving the necessary education to make informed decisions about their health and s*xual well-being. It can also negatively impact providers' ability to provide accessible reproductive healthcare.

Disabled people deserve to make their own healthcare decisions, in reproductive healthcare and otherwise.

Choices about your body should be made by you and your medical team. The government should not be involved in that decision-making process.

Patients shouldn't have to travel out of state to receive abortion care, but it's an unfortunate and expensive reality for many.

As other states ban and restrict abortion care, Preterm sees more patients from out of state. That's why we're committed to subsidizing abortion care for 95% of our patients.

It’s surreal to think that 2 years have passed since SCOTUS overruled Roe and Casey. We’ll never forget the hardship and trauma that happened as a result, but we’re sitting in gratitude for everything that we’ve been able to accomplish.

BREAKING: Preterm and Abortion Providers Across the State File New Complaints in Existing Lawsuit Against Medication Abortion Restrictions.

Ohio's restrictions around medication abortion aren't based in science. Instead, they serve only as barriers to safe healthcare. Under the Ohio Right to Reproductive Freedom amendment, these restrictions are unconstitutional.

BREAKING NEWS: Preterm, along with several other abortion providers and the ACLU Of Ohio, have filed a lawsuit challenging Ohio's 24-hour waiting period.

Ohio law states that patients must have an in-person consultation appointment 24-hours before their abortion procedure. Under this same law, abortion providers must give state-mandated reading material to the patient that discloses alternatives to abortion care.

None of this is medically necessary. And no other time-sensitive medical procedure has a state-mandated waiting period.

Our executive director, Bethany Lewis, LISW-S, shared her thoughts on these restrictions ahead of the filing:

“The singling out of abortion for differential and unfavorable treatment perpetuates the discriminatory view that patients do not think carefully about their decisions and do not understand the nature of the procedure. This is a patronizing stereotype that has no place in our laws.”
