Joe Weber for Shen BOE
We have been residents of the Shenendehowa community since relocating from Massachusetts in 2014. I am passionate about serving my community.
I am a father to three amazing daughters – a 6th Grader at Acadia Middle School, a 3rd Grader and soon to be Kindergartner at Tesago Elementary School and husband to an amazing wife and mother who keeps us all organized with the schedules of three very active kids. I have worked at Public Consulting Group LLC since 2005 where I am currently an Associate Manager and head of our Albany office. At PC

I am excited to announce that I am running for a seat on the Shen School Board. As a parent of two current Shen students and a soon to be Kindergartner in the district, I believe it is important that we continue to provide our students with a high quality and well-rounded public school experience. I also believe that we must provide our teachers and staff with the resources and support they need to provide those opportunities for our students.
As a Shen School Board member, I would be committed to working with all members of the Shen community to make sure their voices are heard and considered when making decisions that impact the educational experience of our students.
I look forward to sharing more about my background and my motivations for seeking a seat on the Shen School Board over the coming days.
I am excited about the opportunity to serve our district and community! I hope you will vote for Joe Weber for the Shen Board of Education and vote YES for our budget and bus purchase proposition on Tuesday, May 17.
Unfortunately things didn’t break my way and my service on the Board will come to an end in June. I cannot begin to put into words how much I have enjoyed this experience and being able to serve our community. I also cannot express how thankful I am for all of the support I received from my family, friends, and others across the district throughout this process. It’s had truly been overwhelming.
Congratulations to Stacey, Jason, and Bob! I know you will do great work for our students and district.
Lastly, thank you to all of the voters in our community that came out and overwhelmingly supported our district by approving the school budget, bus replacement proposition, and capital project proposition.
Just finished voting with my campaign team and biggest supporters. Thank you to everyone who has already voted! Voting is still open until 9pm tonight at Gowana Middle School.
It’s finally here. Today is the day to get out and support Shen and our great students. Voting is open through 9pm tonight at the gym at Gowana Middle School!
Please remember to vote YES for our school budget, the bus replacement proposition, and the capital project proposition!
Vote JOE WEBER for Shen BOE!
Serving on the Shen Board following my appointment in February has been one of the most rewarding and positive experiences I have ever had. I have gained firsthand experience in how our Board works, the commitment of my fellow Board colleagues to serving our students and the Shen community, and the characteristics needed to be a strong and productive Board member. Shen has made great progress in meeting the challenges presented by the pandemic and we are quickly approaching a time when we can put COVID in the rear-view mirror, however there is still work to be done. I am up for taking on whatever challenges come next and excited at the prospects of continuing to work with my teammates on the Board to serve our students and Shen community.
I have also been fortunate to have shared the journey of a new Board member with Jason DiGianni. I have gotten to know Jason well over the last three months following our appointment and as we have navigated this campaign. Jason has the experience and qualifications you want to see in a board member and has the best interests of our students in mind. I encourage you to vote for him too!
Please help spread the word by sharing and reminding everyone to VOTE TOMORROW (Tuesday, May 18) at Gowana Middle School from 7am-9pm.
We are almost at the finish line with the budget vote and Board elections tomorrow from 7am to 9pm at Gowana Middle School Gym.

Special thank you to Jennifer Shea Landers, Kellen Roberts, and Bryan Sawyer for your letters of support.
Don't forget to vote YES for the three propositions - 2021-22 school budget, bus replacement proposition, and capital project proposition - in addition to voting for the three available Board seats.
As we enter the final stretch to the Budget vote and BOE elections on Tuesday, May 18, I want to share some resources that provide information on each of the nine candidates vying for the three seats on the Board.

As you consider who to support with your votes, please make sure to consider the positions of each candidate and their interests in working with other members of the Board and the community to serve our students. In my time on the Board I have learned that it is truly a team effort and that no one person can do it alone. I have truly valued my time as part of this team and hope that you will support me in my efforts to continue serving our students and community as part of the great team on the Board of Education.
Lastly, Tuesday's vote is not just about the BOE elections. There are three very important propositions that directly impact the ability of our district to continue meeting the needs of our students - 1) the 2021-22 school budget, 2) a $1.7M bus replacement proposition, and 3) a $26.5M capital construction proposition. Please vote YES on these three propositions in addition to casting your votes for the three BOE seats.
Thank you again to Shenendehowa CSEA Unit 8458 for your support!
Thank you again to Shenendehowa PTA Council and Shenendehowa Teachers Association for hosting tonight’s Board of Education candidate forum. Thank you as well to all of the Shen community members that came out to learn about the nine candidates vying for the three Board seats.
If you were not able to join tonight’s forum, a recording of the event will be available later this week.
I am extremely humbled and honored to be endorsed by Shenendehowa CSEA Unit 8458 for the Shenendehowa Board of Education. Thank you to all of the aides, monitors, bus drivers, nurses, maintenance and custodial staff, food service staff, supports staff and more that help to keep Shen running each and every day!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing mothers in our lives!
The arts are coming back! Last Friday night, I was able to be part of the Red Carpet premier of The Big One-Oh. This was a great event for the members of the cast and crew and their families. It was so exciting to see the creativity and hard work of the students, teachers, and staff come together on the screen. While I know they would have loved to have been up on the stage performing for the community, this was still a great experience for all involved.
Special thanks to Mr. Lotano and Mrs. Lavicska for all of the hard work they put in to give the kids this opportunity. Thanks also to the teachers and staff that came out for the red carpet experience and interviews.
This is yet another great example of how our Shen community has worked to provide our students with normal experiences despite the challenges presented by COVID.
Congratulations to all involved in this fun production.

Teacher Appreciation Week provides us with an opportunity to recognize the amazing work being done by our teachers in educating, supporting, inspiring, and caring for our students. This year, Teacher Appreciation Week takes on additional significance as we recognize the many ways our teachers have continued to provide for not only the educational needs of their students but also in caring for their social and emotional wellbeing all while navigating challenges never before faced. We have seen teachers having to navigate completely virtual or hybrid environments or moving from teaching music, art or PE to teaching a fifth grade curriculum of math and ELA. This year, more than ever, Teachers are our Superheroes.
Throughout my life I have been fortunate to have been surrounded by amazing teachers that have prepared me to take on every challenge with confidence and to seek opportunities to expand my horizons. This week, I reflect on all of the teachers that have influenced me - My mom, a retired elementary school teacher, who showed me at an early age the true dedication of teachers with her tireless work outside of school hours to make sure her students had all of the resources necessary for the upcoming lesson. My second grade teacher, Mrs. Stream, who used my boredom with the class reading assignments to spark a now lifelong love of history by challenging me to find a book in the library that I would find interesting and complete a book report for the rest of the class. My high school American history teacher, Mr. Gowan ,who allowed me to further explore my interest in the Cold War through a research assignment on the Bay of Pigs invasion. My mother in law, a retired middle school English teacher who persevered to achieve National Board Certification. as a demonstration of her commitment to ongoing improvement in schools. My sister in law, a Family and Consumer Science teacher, who shares her enthusiasm for teaching important life skills with her students on a daily basis.
As a parent of Shenendehowa students, I am thankful for the amazing teachers across our district that inspire, challenge, and care for our students in a way that prepares them to lead useful, productive, and rewarding lives. I especially want to acknowledge and thank all of the Tesago teachers that have made such wonderful impacts on the lives of my girls over the last six years.
In the midst of two long days of non-stop softball and soccer, three of my biggest supporters wanted to make sure they got a chance to help Dad get some signs up around our community. These three are my daily reminder of the important work being done by the Shen BOE on behalf of the almost 10,000 students and why I hope to be able to continue to serving our community.
Shenendehowa Friends – In February, I was selected to fill one of two vacancies on the Shenendehowa Board of Education. Over the last two months I have had the pleasure of working with a team of passionate and dedicated leaders that are all driven by a commitment to serving our students, teachers, staff, administrators, and the Shenendehowa community as a whole. In my time on the Board I have seen firsthand the great work being done by this group and so it is with great excitement that I announce my decision to run for a seat on the Shenendehowa Board of Education in the election this May.
I am asking for your support and for your vote on May 18, 2021 so that I may continue to serve our great community.
Over the next month, I will be sharing updates through my dedicated Board of Education election page. I would greatly appreciate it if you could like this page and share it with your friends, family, and neighbors.
