Emergency Blood and Platelet Shortage!
The Red Cross national blood product supply has fallen by more than 25% since July 1. The Red Cross is working with hospitals around the clock to meet the blood needs of patients – but can’t do it alone. We need donors, like you, to help provide this lifesaving care.

Incredible work by the Medstar LifeFlight team!
We are entering the final stages of completion of our new Detroit deployment and education facility! All rough inspections have been received, and we now moving into finishes for walls, ceiling and floor coverings.
The facility will house 30 ALS, BLS, NICU, and critical care ambulances, crew lounge and make-ready area, dispatch and EOC facilities, clinical quality assurance team offices, a 4,800 square foot education, training and high-fidelity simulation lab, as well as community CPR, AED, and STB training space.
Rehabilitating a 102-year-old building and preserving the automobile production and marketing history, as well as artifacts found in the building, has taken some time and effort! The close-up and finishes, as well as external and parking completion phase is here, and we are excited to see the facility move closer to coming on line.
When someone’s heart stops beating, every minute without defibrillation and CPR lowers the chance of survival by nearly 10%. When an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is used on a person in cardiac arrest, their likelihood of survival doubles. In our continuing effort to save lives, Medstar presented an AED to the Bay County, Michigan Sheriff's Office for use in their Marine Division.

Life Flight trained with the Chesterfield Fire Dept. this week. Ensuring a safe landing zone in the event we are called upon to deliver life-saving transportation.
When someone’s heart suddenly stops beating, every minute without defibrillation and CPR lowers the chance of survival by nearly 10%. When a bystander uses an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on a person in cardiac arrest, their likelihood of survival doubles. Medstar recognizes community AED placement as the most important component of increasing cardiac arrest survival throughout its eleven-county service area.
The recent expansion of our “Shock and Save” community AED initiative is off to a fantastic start. Through three charity golf outings, we have raised over $200,000, with Medstar matching another $200,000, providing 220 AEDs throughout our service area, and over 1400 hours of CPR and AED training at no cost!
