Smokey and Twix are 7-8 year old sisters who more than anything want a forever home together. They have been together their own lives! These kitties have lived with other cats and dogs in their past and can get along fine with them. Both are mild mannered and love to be pet. We call him Trip because he’s always between your legs. He is a very loving puppy with also a very curious personality. He’s a confident explorer that loves to play with what he finds. He loves to jump into things or off things. He’s a goofball all the way and loves to sleep in your lap when he’s tired. He is catching on to potty training like a champ and is vaccines are UTD. Fitz is a an easy going little gentleman and despite having been spent his puppy months in some pretty dire circumstances has the biggest, most generous heart. His favorite things are ball, wedging himself between a human and a couch and meeting new people.

He’s just shy of 4 years old, about 50 lbs. at a foot and a half off the ground, neutered, potty trained and up-to-date on all the necessities.

Fitz Facts:

- People lover - loves to say hello to people while out on walks, and is usually very polite about it. He will radiate with joy for the rest of the walk if anyone stops to pet him and tell him how good of a boy he is. He’s cool with kids too.
- Great on walks - he’s good at keeping fairly loose leash a majority of the time. Interested but not aggressive or especially reactive towards other animals (depends on how they are acting). He only pulls hard when he’s locked in on something especially sniff-worthy.
- Smart and adaptable - takes direction well and is a quick learner. He will shake with either paw, sit, lay down, is working on place and drop it (extra bribing required with ball) and may even insist that you let him give you a kiss before he eats his food. He is very treat motivated and takes them so gently.
- A snuggle nugget- he loves starting and ending the day with some cuddles, and he’s got a little furnace inside him. He’s a very sweet and loving boy without being overbearing.
- Soft spoken - aside from someone approaching the house or the lawnmower, he does most of his talking with his tail, a head-plop in the lap and his big brown eyes.
- Independent and trustworthy - I WFH and he’ll do his own thing either napping, chewing on a ball, or keeping an eye on the neighborhood through the window. He’s also good on his own for longer periods of time, no issues with chewing or getting into things.
- Medium energy - he’s pretty mellow with a moderate amount of activity, a couple of relaxed walks and some tug sessions and he is a happy camper. Fetch is good too, but less fun than tug or chewing on a ball on top of another ball.
- Distinguished - he has a couple of minor dings and dents from his early days, but he’s all the more handsome for them. His spirit is unmarred.

He’s basically got everything in just the right amounts, Goldilocks approved.

Fitz’s ideal home:

- A calm and predictable environment brings out the best in him. That isn’t to say he can’t handle excitement or activity, but he is very content and easy going when he has a routine and good boundaries set for him.
- He has lived in WFH situations since he was rescued, so probably would be best were he not left alone for regular extended periods of time.
- Best as an only dog to sponge up all the love, cats are okay though.
- Kids old enough to respect his enthusiasm for ball, he is very gentle otherwise and is reluctant to even play bite.
- A yard is a nice to have but not a necessity, he doesn’t seem to be into hanging-out outside on his own - would rather soak up some rays on a bed or couch in proximity to his people.

Did you know that you can get into the Michigan Renaissance Festival for free?

We are looking for volunteers to help run the dog check in booth! We have several shifts available. This would be PERFECT for volunteer hours needed for high school.

This is a great event for the rescue to be able to participate in since 80% of the registration fees go directly to the rescue and is an awesome opportunity for both fosters and non-fosters to help at. Plus, volunteers get to park up front for FREE AND can get a free meal (from the volunteer tent, not in the faire) as well as enter the faire for free. YAY! (Dressing up is optional but fun.)

Keep in mind, you can bring a friend and/or family member to help; they don't necessarily need to be a member of ARAR!

If you'd like to learn more about what volunteering for this event entails, please read below:
~ Those visiting the faire with their dogs will come to the registration booth to sign up. Our volunteers will need to;
~ Collect immunization records
~ Collect the fee for the pet to enter; $10 if they supply the picture, $15 if we need to take one for them
~ Collect a physical picture or take a picture on your phone of the pet entering
~ If taking a picture via phone, save the file as "{Date} {Dog name}" and upload phone to provided link
~ After all is completed, supply a ribbon to be tied on the leash and put any physical documentation into tote/accordion binder that will be left at the Faire at the ticket booth for this purpose.
~ Service Animals DO NOT need to do the above steps. Emotional support, Therapy, or pets DO as they are not serviced animals.
~ The Renaissance Festival employees should redirect pet owners who have not registered back to the booth so it should not be on the rescue to worry over if they're a service animal or not. However, just be aware if someone asks.
~ Volunteers will get a ticket for the faire and a meal ticket.

Today we are looking for donations to cover our bill (invoice in comments) at Wilson's Vet. We had TWO puppies test positive for the dreaded Parvovirus and require life saving supportive care. Without hospitalization they would have lost their life, a life that has barely begun as they are only three months old. Jamieson was also admitted to Wilsons feeling crummy. In rescue, we are constantly thrown curve balls. Do we have the funds to pay this $8,000 bill? No. Was there any other choice but to save their life? Not in our eyes. Hi there! My name is Keen and I'm a 10-month-old pup who has had quite the journey. I was found as a stray in Detroit and ended up in an overcrowded shelter. Thankfully, A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue heard about my situation and took me in to give me a chance at a better life.

Unfortunately, when they found me, they noticed some scars that seemed to be from previous injuries. But don't worry, I'm on the mend! I currently weigh 58 lbs, which is slightly underweight, but I'm gaining weight at a healthy pace with the love and care I'm receiving.

As a puppy, I'm actually pretty calm most of the time. I'm curious, cuddly, and absolutely love attention. Meeting new things and people can make me a bit insecure, but with time and patience, I warm up quickly. I enjoy playing with toys occasionally, but I'm also content just being by your side and soaking up the love.

I'm friendly with other dogs and cats, as long as they're savvy like me. I also do well with kids who know how to interact with dogs appropriately. With some consistency, I'll catch on to potty break times quickly. I'm great on a leash and absolutely enjoy going for walks. Exploring fenced backyards is another favorite pastime of mine, but please remember, tethering is not allowed for my safety since I used to be a stray.

When it comes to barking, I'm on the quieter side. I prefer to be the calm and composed type. And now, I'm ready to find my forever family. Hello - My name is Soprano!

I'm a 9 week pocket bully sharpei mix and I'm about as sweet as it gets! I was born on July 4th and my owner knew immediately that I needed help, so I was surrendered to A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue for some extra special care. I still have a couple weeks before I can go home, but I'd love to get to know my future forever family while I finish up my required puppy vetting. Here's the details about me:

😊 I was born with not only a bilateral cleft lip, but also cleft hard and soft palates. I have been tube fed since day 1, and I'm slowly weaning off my tube in preparation for adoption. The most important thing to know about my clefts is that I need a hard food diet, no soft foods that can get stuck up in my palate. I'm able to eat and drink like a normal pup as long as you stick to my cleft approved diet!

🦷 I may require some dental work in the future due to my cleft lip - my baby teeth have come in in all directions, and we aren't sure what to expect as my adult teeth come in.

📐 I am a teeny tiny 3.5 lbs at 9 weeks old, but I'm really starting to grow now that I'm eating more on my own. We are completely unsure how big I'll get, but I definitely won't be a large dog as an adult.

💉 I'm up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and I have a negative f***l.

🤗 I love to cuddle and I'm totally happy in your arms for as long as you'll hold me!

🦴 I love to play, but I'm so teeny I haven't totally figured out toys yet. I wrestle my brother 24/7 and I'd love to have another dog in the home, but this is not a requirement for me.

Hi everyone! My name is “Pepperoni“. I am an 18 pound, twelve-week old mix and I am absolutely adorable, if I do say so myself! I have the prettiest eyes and the cutest personality.
My foster mom is always telling me how I am just the sweetest boy, and not to brag, but I really am! I am a mommas boy and love to follow her all around the house and yard. I love to be right by my family and cuddle whenever possible. I am currently a perfect size for a lap dog and I am enjoying it for as long as I can because my foster family is always saying "he'll be a big boy" and i'm sure even then i'l still think i'm a lap dog!

When I am not following my family around, I am playing with my two foster brothers who are much bigger than me. While they are bigger than me, I still give them a run for their money. I like playing with dogs of all sizes, I am very friendly and outgoing!

My foster family also has these weird animals that are small and fluffy, I think they are always calling them "cats". I always try to play with them as well and give them kisses, but they don't seem interested but that's okay, because I am friendly and gentle with them!

At night time my mom puts me in what she calls my "crate". At first I wasn't the biggest fan until I realized there's some pretty cool toys in there and a comfy bed. Ever since I realized that, I sleep every night in there for about 8 hours.

The most impressive part about me is I have potty training mastered as long as I am let out every so often. I am proud of myself for that skill, after all I am only 12 weeks old!

Everyone comments about how “chill” I am and say things like “he is so easy going”. I think I am simply content and happy because I am loved so very much. My foster family, especially my foster mom, wants to find the very best furever home for me and I know she will!

Maggie May is the sweetest 18 pound beagle puppy you have ever met. She is working on potty training and knows sit and is learning down. She walks super good on a leash. Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful pup!
Gilligan was abandoned at a boat ramp / park back in September, He was hit by a car and suffered some heartbreaking injuries that resulted in part of his tail to be amputated.
Throughout all of this, he was calm, kind, and appreciative of any attention offered.
Gilligan is gentle and loves people. He has met many people, including children during his recovery in foster. All he really wants is to follow you around, sit on your feet, or roll over for belly rubs.
He’s crate trained, and has never had an accident. A home with a fence would be ideal, as he is a little too interested in squirrels, bunnies, and deer.
Becoming an indoor pet has been his dream come true. He doesn’t appreciate being outside for long unless you’re with him! He loves living indoors with people.
At this time, we don’t recommend a home with other pets. He’s met a couple of dogs that he did very well with, but he’s still learning how to be a dog and he’s just not ready to share his people. His new home needs to be cat free.
Gilligan would be happy with a family, or a single person, he loves everyone’s love and attention. He is not an energetic guy. He’s happy doing what you’re doing!

Dizzy is a sweet 10 year old gal who is looking for a retirement home! Dizzy is great with cats and has been around small dogs and also does well. Dizzy is very sweet and would do best in a home where she can follow someone around all day. Dizzy loves to cuddle and sleep in bed.

Dizzy was surrendered after living in a car, infested with fleas, in need of some much deserved TLC. She has been spayed and had a dental at the same time. During the dental for Dizzy it was found her jaw was broken likely due to chronic dental disease. Dizzy had her remaining teeth removed and had her jaw wired. Despite everything, Dizzy has never lost her love for food or toys. Dizzy has since had the wire removed. She would benefit from soft food and no hard bones but she still loves her soft toys. Dizzy has been cleared of fleas and her skin no longer has redness or sores but she still has some allergies and is currently on allergy medication.

Meet Janet. She is a 16 week pitty mix looking for her forever home. She is spunky, she would benefit from a older dog to play with, but not necessary. She definitely needs a fenced backyard. I have some challenges to overcome, including a lack of self-confidence, limited experiences, and a lack of socialization. However, with the right support and positivity, I've been making great progress in improving my skills. The first meeting or two with men are a little scary but I'm learning to trust them through proper introductions. I've been enjoying small outings and venturing out into the world, one step at a time. When it comes to walking on a leash, I prefer a slower pace and love leisurely strolls. I do really well with other dogs and enjoy their company. In fact, my bestie is a 13 pound Cavachon puppy. I am also super respectful of cats and do not pay any attention to them.

In February, I was one of many feral kittens humanely trapped. The plan was to tip my ear and release me back to my world outside, but when the humans noticed my eye, they called A Rejoyceful. You see, visually impaired cats, especially kittens, do not do as well when feral. It would have been difficult for me to hunt for my food and to stay protected.

My foster mom took me in as a very scared and timid kitten that had never known a loving human hand before. It took months of hard work, but now I love and crave the attention I get from my foster humans.

I got to know my four legged foster brothers and sisters through playing with them under the door. I was finally brave enough to meet the other cats face to face and now I can’t get enough!

I would do best in a home with another young cat or kitten who loves to play. I am still skittish around dogs, and this might cause some dogs to chase me. A calm dog or a dog that does well with cats in addition to a slow introduction would be best for me.

I have done a 180 degree turn for the better and I know my story is not over yet!

💉He is neutered and fully vetted with all my vaccines including rabies. He did have surgery on one eye and is partially blind in that eye, which makes his clumsy at times. All is well and fully healed.
