Soroptimist is an international women's organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls. Some of Soroptimist’s projects:
Women’s Opportunity Awards, which help women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Live Your Dream campaign, which encourages all women to live their dreams while helping others to do the same. STOP Trafficking – This project raises awareness about sexual trafficking of women and girls, and seeks to encourage society to focus on this global problem. Scholarships & Awards:
Violet Richardson Award - recognizes young women ages 14-17 whose volunteer activities make the community and world a better place. Virginia Wagner Award – recognizes women attending a college or university to earn a baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree with emphasis toward education, scholarship, extracurricular activities and financial need. Ruby Award – honors women who have worked to improve the lives of women and girls through their professional and/or volunteer work.
