A person struggling with any substance use disorder can come to any of the participating police agencies or community partners and ask for help. They will be greeted with support, compassion, and respect. If accepted into the program, the individual will be guided through a brief intake process to ensure proper treatment placement.
If a person is uninsured or has Medicaid, we will work directly with the local Office of Substance Abuse Services for placement. If a person has private insurance, we will provide them with treatment options covered by their plan.
Regardless, our team will work to get them into treatment as soon as possible. We have more than 600 volunteer Angels, and one of them will help with paperwork and provide compassionate support until a treatment option is found. We also provide transportation to treatment.

"We want to take a minute to highlight some community policing our department participates in on a weekly basis. It is our ComeBack Quick Response Team or "QRT". QRT partners with Families Against Narcotics (FAN) and our team is comprised of one of our Officers, a Peer Recovery Coach (PRC), a Family Recovery Coach (FRC), and an MDOC Parole Agent. Each week, the team responds for individuals or family members who have, in one way or another, been negatively affected by Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The goal is to break the stigma on SUD and to hopefully make a police-related interaction a positive experience, and to provide the resources needed to help a person in need achieve their best life.
Today, our team had the honor of re-visiting Eddie Musall. QRT responded for Eddie back in October of last year, when Eddie was in a negative place. FAN coaches took the time to listen and provide Eddie with the resources he needed to rise from his dark place and today he told us he has almost FIVE months of sobriety!
Way to go Eddie! We hope you continue to navigate your journey in recovery!! If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with Substance Use Disorder, please contact our department at (586) 447-4501, and let us help navigate the journey to recovery together."
