🔖Our first ‘24-25 Question of the Week is by Miss Louisa! One time Miss Whitney forgot to put up a question and that was the last time she ever slacked on her question of the week duty. Each week we now choose a question from a student and hang it on the Planting Positivity Board in the waiting room!

🏅After only 8 weeks of piano this summer, Eliza passed her Level 1 book at her first fall lesson! Eliza has so much focus and does such a lovely job working through her pieces. This week we broke down some tricky sections in the final review of her book. After tackling those parts alone, she was able to smoothly play both final review pieces and pass Level 1. Eliza is now sporting a shiny Level 1 button on her backpack and she is off to the races in Level 2!

🎶✨ Back in 2019, Miss Whitney was performing on Norwegian Cruise Lines in a dueling pianos show with 2 other amazing performers, and a young budding musician named Rafael attended all four of their shows. At the end of the week he left them this heartfelt note:

“Dear Mark, Whitney, and Vince,

When I went to your show the first night, my mind was blown. All three of you have and will inspire me forever. I find it amazing how you play, and I know how much skill and effort it takes to do what you do, and for that, I will be inspired. I haven’t seen better pianists than you. I want all of you to know that you have and will inspire me for the rest of my life.

Sincerely, Rafael”

Getting this note was the highlight of Miss Whitney’s cruise contract and someone was probably cutting onions nearby when she read it. Fast forward 5 years, and this week they received this message from Rafael:

“Hey, this is Rafa. It’s been a couple years but I’m the kid from the cruise who came to all of your dueling pianos. I have a piano recital on Sunday at 3:30pm EST. I know it has been a while, but you all were a big inspiration for me to continue playing piano, and I wanted to invite you all. I’ll send a zoom link on Sunday, but I’d love it if you could stop by for a little bit.”

Rafa is now 16 and he just played an *hour* of memorized music in a stunning private recital for his family and friends.

It looks like Miss Whitney will now be writing a similar note to Rafa in a few years when he is a world traveling pianist. What a testimony to the power of music! 🎹❤️

☀️Summer recital alert! We are so excited to be a part of the city of Urbandale’s Sundays in the Summer Public Piano Performance Series! All current students are invited to stop by the Urbandale library Sunday, July 28th anytime between 1:30-2:30 pm. Come join Miss Whitney, Charlie, Henry and Teddy for some outside piano entertainment!

For our 6-7 year old friends, we’ve cleverly disguised learning as a bunch of engaging activities, leaving students completely hooked and loving every moment of their musical adventure.

We are on the lookout for local events to share Bloom Music Studio. We come armed with a keyboard and some golden doodles and are ready to teach some songs on the piano. 🐶🐶🐶🎹

So grateful for the people we’ve been lucky enough to have as teachers this school year. Miss Carissa, Miss Kelli, Miss Melissa, Miss Sarrah, Miss Allison, Mr Jack and Mr Jacob have poured themselves into our kids this year and we are better because of them!

Today Bloom turns 3!

When Miss Whitney taught the first lesson at our Clive location on 1/19/21, she thought she would have a cozy corner by herself with her doodles and her favorite small humans. She had been teaching piano for 20 years and she was ready to start this journey in her new space.

Fast forward 3 years, and the Bloom team has grown to an 💫amazing💫 group of people who have a collective 67 years of experience teaching music.

We are immensely grateful to be able to nurture and care for your kids, and we cannot WAIT for the Von Maur Winter Recital tomorrow!

📧Today we received an email that Joel just casually finished the rest of his book over Winter Break.🎉

🙌🏼One of our favorite things about our Lab 55 program is the accessibility it provides at home. Joel is connected to our software during the week and gets immediate feedback and a score on every song he plays. No guesswork here.

🥇Joel practiced 6 out of the last 7 days, and is all set to pick out his prize for finishing his book on his 💫1st💫 day back after Winter Break.
