PPVC is a Full-service Veterinary Hospital located near Patty Jewett Golf Course in central Colorado Springs.
**SELFIE SATURDAY** Ruko here...making a Rukus (my nickname). But really, I'm just a happy pup who loves running on the beach (when we can find one). Don't be scared, but the weirdest thing I do is growl when I’m happy, which is pretty much all the time. 🤩
Your dog can be a hero and save a life by giving blood. It seems there is regularly a shortage. Per Hemosolutions: "Dogs, like humans, occasionally need blood transfusions in case of injury or disease. If your dog is qualified, s/he can save lives and help other dogs around the country."
Your dog donates blood to Hemosolutions and you get a voucher to use at Pikes Peak Vet for their care. Check it out and get on their schedule: (719) 380-1900!

Many of you use our ONLINE PHARMACY. Our prices are usually as good or better than those at other discount retailers, AND you get the assurance that your products are being stored, handled and delivered properly. Additionally, you can take advantage of rebates for products, especially those you use regularly like heartworm medication, among others. If you choose auto-ship, you often get an even better price.
If you don't already have an account, head over to https://pikespeakvet.covetruspharmacy.com/ to set it up and get the peace of mind knowing that we have your back should anything go wrong!
Milo Mushmouth here to make a plea to all of you pet owners - July 4th is a scary time for some of us. If you have a new cat of whom you are unsure, or you know your kitty is a scaredy cat, here are some tips for keeping us safe during the upcoming holiday!🇷🇴🇪🇭
1. Even if your cat is an outdoor BRING THEM INTO THE HOUSE OR THE GARAGE for the night.
2. Make sure they have a MICROCHIP. Many lost pets have been reunited from this one simple trick.
3. CREATE A SAFE SPACE wherever your cat will live for the night. It could be a cardboard box with a blanket over the top, or a carrier with CALMING TREATS in a closet.
4. Use PHEROMONES like Feliway sprayed on their bedding or in an infuser.
5. DON'T LOCK THEM IN A BEDROOM OR BATHROOM. Make sure they have plenty of safe hiding places to choose from, but block off unsafe spaces like crawl spaces.
6. You can use VETERINARY-PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS in the short run, or try DESENSITIZING TECHNIQUES in the long-run.
Do you love our staff? We love our staff! Watch the video all the way to the end for a heartwarming kitten pic of our adoptees! We pitched in and had a great time showing off all of the new ideas we've implemented at PPVC and entertaining the crowds at our Open House. It's a lot of work, but a good time was had by all. Thank you for coming and for supporting our locally-owned vet clinic. See you soon, but not too soon! 😍🐈🐢🐍🦮🐕🐓
**SELFIE SATURDAY** Mimi, aka Memes, just had a birthday! Wish her well as she completes another trip around the sun while getting lots of lovin 💖 from her pawrents and chasing flies, which one must do! 😵💫.
June is a good month to focus on cats' needs, since it's Adopt-a-Cat Month. We want your cat to be as relaxed as Henry when riding in the car and going to the vet. That's where Bonquat comes in.
Of course, you need to discuss the pros and cons with your vet, but it's "The first and only FDA-approved treatment for alleviation of acute anxiety and fear associated with transportation and veterinary visits in cats." This medication is not a sedative and it comes in a liquid dropper that most cats find easy to accept. Read more at the link provided and then call to see about an appointment if you think your cat might benefit: 719-475-1747. https://www.bonqatvetteam.com/ #:~:text=Bonqat%20Alleviates%20Feline%20Acute%20Transport,of%20acute%20anxiety%20and%20fear.
The PPVC Open House was a huge success. We're grateful to all the great vendors who joined us for the event, pictured in the video! (Not pictured, but equally cool - Cutie and the Beast 👀 U.S. Service Dogs 👀 Brushstrokes Pottery.
It's Adopt-a-Cat Month and we have KITTENS! Motor Head” is an 8-week-old male, all black polydactyl kitten. Born feral, this boy now has quite a purring motor (hence his name) and is an active and motivated player. He definitely keeps us on our toes. Motor Head should go to a home with other friendly cats as he is quite vocal when alone.
“Polly” is a 6-week old female kitten. She will be ready to leave us in about 2 weeks. She was also born feral and has been actively loved on and raised by Dr. Marsden, her family and the PPVC family. She is a snuggly girl and quite laid back.
Both kittens have been dewormed and have their first vaccines. The adoption fee for each kitten is $75.00. They could go to a home together, if saomeone is interested in this option. Please call us to schedule a meet-and-greet and to fill out an adoption application! (719) 475-1747
