✨Rising Star Award✨ The Rising Star recognizes the hard work, dedication and entrepreneurship of an emerging restaurant concept in Columbia.

🧇 Best known for their signature dish— 4 crispy fried chicken wings seasoned to perfection on top of a warm, Belgian waffle — Kiki's Chicken and Waffles has been a huge hit since they opened their doors in 2012.

Kiki & Tyrone Cyrus learned from their prior restaurant experience the importance of keeping service moving in a busy restaurant, with a goal of bringing food to customers within 13 minutes.

We look forward to celebrating the Cyruses as our Rising Stars with our Hall of Fame inductees on November 21.

✨Rudy Award Spotlight✨ The Rudy honors an individual whose exemplary service positively impacts the Columbia restaurant industry, as Rudy Flyshocker’s passion to the industry was second to none.

Sandra Craig, who has worked alongside the hospitality industry for 40 years in her role as the Director of the Division of Food & Lead Risk Assessments for SC DHEC, will be presented with the Rudy Award on November 21.

We look forward to celebrating Sandra and our Hall of Fame inductees in a little over a week at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Mr. Friendly's New Southern Cafe has always been home base for Ricky Mollohan… and for many of his loyal customers too.

He utilizes numerous local farms and purveyors for Mr. Friendly’s menus and weekly specials and features a wine list with more than 300 selections. There are even still a few tried-and-true dishes that have remained since it opened in Five Points in the 1990s, like the Big Salads and the filet mignon featuring French Quarter pimento cheese.

And we can't forget Ricky's other ventures, Solstice Kitchen & Wine Bar and Cellar on Greene. We're excited for what's next to come.

In 1994, this dynamic duo met at Village Idiot Pizza while working at the restaurant— Kelly as a server and Brian as a cook. Kelly and Brian's playful work dynamic transitioned into a relationship and then marriage with Village Idiot almost always playing a larger role in their life together.

Together they have not only expanded to 3 locations, but they have built a community around good people and good food. Village Idiot has proudly served the Columbia community for over 30 years through their Five Points, City of Forest Acres, and Olympia Mills locations.

A preview of the proposed plans for a Marriott Moxy-branded hotel across from the State House has been released and it includes an overall historic renovation of the existing building, a rooftop bar and a speakeasy-style bar below ground. While the plans have yet to be approved by the city, they hint work on the 11-story structure at the corner of Gervais and Main streets could begin in the near future.
