Columbia Access Television
A public access cable channel managed by Vidwest Studios, a nonprofit multimedia company in Columbia, Missouri. Relaunch set for 2021
"People go to church to get fed, and not...because you have not eaten food, but in a metaphorical sense of food being the sustenance in life for what you need to keep going, have hope, and feel empowered...I want you to come to Soul Sessions and get fed. It's church."
We feel the same way about community media. Vidwest Studios and CAT proudly supports artistic groups like Soul Sessions COMO with equipment and rehearsal space because everyone should have a creative church to call their own.

WHAT IS VIDWEST, EXACTLY?
Since opening, we’ve gotten some smiles and some scrunched up eyebrows and we’re here to set the story straight. Simply put, we are Columbia’s community media center! Vidwest was incorporated in March 2019 by veterans of the True False Film Festival and Citizen Jane Film Festival to serve Columbia’s growing grassroots media community.
DID YOU KNOW? Vidwest Studios is a mixed-use media center located on the Business Loop that includes a photography studio, a black box film studio, a sound-proofed audio recording studio, a modular meeting area for groups, classes, and events, and camera, audio, and lighting equipment available for checkout to members (and anyone can be a member!). Vidwest is also the umbrella organization to projects such as Como Shorts, a local film festival, the Digital Storytelling Workshop, a youth film camp serving high-school students, and Columbia Access Television.
WHAT IS CAT (Columbia Access Television) AND WHAT DOES VIDWEST HAVE TO DO WITH IT?
The nonprofit formerly known as CAT was a community media center and public access cable channel. CAT will live on in name as the public access cable channel relaunched through Vidwest. Pandemic-related infrastructure delays have been one of many challenges in establishing Vidwest Studios, but good things come to those who wait! The channel is set to re-launch within the calendar year.
We have big plans on the horizon and over the next month, you’re gonna hear a lot from us. We’re here to serve the media needs of Columbia, and can’t wait to share our vision for helping our community!
If you're curious about who we are and what we do, you can find out more on our website, www.vidwest.org.
