It’s hard to believe, with this heat, that Twin Peaks season is just around the corner.
Anyone else only watch in the fall / winter?
Everyone is welcome on our street!
Devilish Dill-ights.
Take a sunny midweek tour of the shop with us!
The x peanuts collection is here!
I was saddened to hear the news of Fred Segal’s closure yesterday, without whom we wouldn’t be here today.
In 2004 the band I’d moved to LA with had broken up and I was bouncing between friends’ couches and sleeping in my now ex band’s van. Niki was finishing up at OSU and we’d visit each other often. On one such visit my wallet broke.
Peeling the covers off of old library books became a popular medium for gifts we’d make each other. I needed to kill time on campus while Niki was in class, so I tossed a book cover and sewing supplies in my bag. I sat outside of the campus Starbucks and sewed the first “book wallet” by hand. We liked it so much we went to that night and purchased a sewing machine to make more. I extended my trip and when I arrived home in LA a week later, I had an orange vinyl, American Tourister case full of wallets and change purses.
Knowing zero about how the retail industry worked, I strapped the orange case to the back of my scooter and rode over to Fred Segal on Melrose. I walked up to the little glass building that housed the bag and wallet shop and asked for the buyer. The kind man behind the counter, Michael, said “that isn’t how this works but I’ll take a look.” Michael placed an order on the spot, even helping me determine pricing. He went on to guide us through product iterations and the development of new things he thought we should add.

Some Tigertree history. Rob and Bianca are our second oldest industry friends. We started selling Rob’s brand, Brown Sound, when we were still in the alley in the Short North. When we met up at a trade show in Santa Monica around 2008 he introduced us to his then girlfriend and let us know about her brand that was about to launch, Dear Creatures, which went on to be one of our favorite brands we’ve ever sold.
They have both left the retail industry but Rob now works in costuming and is currently on the Superman movie filming in Cleveland. Since they were so close they came down to hang out over the weekend. This seems like a fitting “we’re getting old” follow up to the post about how Emma works at the shop now but it’s always crazy to catch up with friends you haven’t seen in ages and get to watch your kids meet each other.
And yes, this was the best of the 20 group pictures we took together but I will have it know that Rob and Bianca looked great in all of them.
Two things that will make people that have been with us for a while feel old.
1. Emma works here now. Like, actually. She’ll probably help you find something and be at the register next time you are in.
2. There is something other than 1” buttons in the chicken machine for the first time since we’ve owned it.
Took the new company car in today.
The morning sun in the new space is pretty alright.
New summer steez for your closet is hitting the shop! Don't worry, we have the Take It Greasy shorts on reorder.
We got a big restock of Charley Harper art tiles from and we are in love with the new raccoon!
An absolutely CRAZY amount of just landed in the shop. Our biggest order ever by far. All the Keith Haring items. New silhouettes like the backpacks. New colorways. Lots and lots and lots of everything!
These new adorable doormats are an in store only item so you’ll have to come see us!
Our first week in our new space was capped off beautifully by seeing so many of you at the Jamboree last night AND by our signs getting installed yesterday!
Thank you all for three incredible years in this magical building. Now there are only three magical days left to enjoy it! March 31st will be our last day at 3284 N. High St.
We’ll start packing up the store to move across the street on April 1st. We expect to be closed for around two weeks. We obviously have a lot of incentive to beat that time-frame but closing, packing, moving, and merchandising two stores will take some time. We’ll keep you updated the whole time.
We will continue accepting and shipping online orders. We generally get things packed and shipped within hours. During the first couple of days of the move, there will be an additional 1-2 days of processing time, but there shouldn’t be disruptions beyond that. In-store pickups will not be available for the first week of the move. We’ll update you when that changes.
We’re really proud of what we’ve been working on and cannot wait to share it with all of you for years to come!
Haven’t posted anything for a while. We’ve been working crazy hard trying to get this thing done and that can’t stop since we are just over two weeks out from starting this move 😬. Floors are looking top notch. Outside walls are looking a much lower notch but they will get there. Working on some other fun projects at home that we will share when they are closer to completion. Thanks to everyone for continuing to support us during this phase and to our team for continuing to prove that things go better when I am not there.
A whole lot of sore muscles, early mornings, and late nights are happening to make this (sometime in) April deadline a reality!
Lots of new this week but a pretty easy favorite for me.
New rug alert! Take a look at this cutie!
Did you know that duck umbrellas are our oldest, continuously stocked product? We have carried these for almost 15 years!
This is my favorite review in a while. We of course appreciate every review, good because they make us feel good or good because it’s something we need to hear. So why does this one stand out so much for me? They mention the community, TWICE!
First they heard about us through a friend. But then they came in and the thing that made the shopping experience so great was how great the other patrons were in the shop! I love watching what happens when this place is buzzing. Thanks for the magic you all bring with you!
We are here til 3 for the last day of 2023 and the last day of what is already our best December ever (and it’s not even close)! We are so grateful to Clintonville for embracing us so well and our longtime, non Clintonville, customers for supporting us here. I have to personally say how grateful I am to our absolutely incredible team. There is so much joy and laughter here behind the scenes that spills over into everything we do.
The final weekend before Christmas is here. We are working hard to process new inventory to restock the shelves and restock we’ve added extended hours!
We’ve got the stockings and the stuffers.
