Hi, friends. Gary here.
Tomorrow is my first official day in the shop and I couldn't be more stoked. Eric and I spent the day moving books around, talking about the menu, and getting ready for what's sure to be an excellent week on Parsons Ave.
Ivan will be showing me the ropes tomorrow from 2pm to close so be sure to drop by say what's up. ⚡🌴
It’s college football season again, I guess 🤷🏻♂️ And you know what that means! Time to break out our Official Knighting Sword™️ ⚔️
Come through this weekend for books, chill vibes, and hardcore vegan brunch! Also, cheers to breathing again after that swampy heat. 😘
This is a big week of transition for us at HQ, as we look forward to welcoming Gary Lovely onto the team next week, as well as celebrate two incredibly valuable team members who will be leaving us in Sarah Galloway and Elena Herren, both of whom have been with us for two years and played key roles in making HQ what it is.
Sarah has been with us the past two years, during which time she became Kitchen Manager and has been instrumental in developing our menu into the vegan cheffing powerhouse that it has become under her vision and care. Our food reviews are incredibly positive, and Sarah is the key reason for that. She has been talking about wanting to make Vada Pav as a special pretty much ever since I’ve known her, and with this being her last week, she came through! I had one yesterday, and it’s so fresh and so flavorful, and really puts the “special” in “weekly special.” Even though she’s leaving, I’ve spoken with Sarah about running food pop-ups at HQ on Saturday or Sunday evenings in the future, so stay tuned!
Elena has also been with us for two years, and has been such a consistent rock for us during that time. Incredibly creative and talented, while moonlighting at HQ, Elena has published their own poetry chapbook, and displayed their artwork in galleries in Cincinnati while making our chalkboard signs across HQ feel bright, fun, and visually attractive. Elena is going to be putting their creative talents to work designing for a local company.
We owe a great big thank you to Sarah and Elena for their spirit, concern, and character, and wish them the best of luck in whatever they tackle next!
You probably guessed it, but WE ARE HIRING a new kitchen staffer, someone to work 20-30 hours a week. We’re looking for a self-starter who is passionate about scratch-made food and community, able to multi-task and have a positive attitude. If that’s you, then email [email protected] with relevant work history, favorite dishes to make at home, as well as any favorite books or movies!
Meanwhile, scroll through for a picture of the infamous Vada Pav, and join us tonight for the Village Poetry Workshop and Rough Drafts comedy show! 💗
