OCA’s Eastern Ohio Chapter has been working to help their communities this year by participating in a blood drive and packing more than 1,000 bags for Blessings in a Backpack which serves students in Harrison County.

Thanks to all the companies and team members from Shelly & Sands, Mid Atlantic Maintenance, Ohio CAT, Beaver Excavating, Ohio West Virginia Excavating and Asphalt Materials that participated in these projects!

Opening breakfast at the OCA Annual Convention at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. Retired U.S. Two Star Admiral, Mike Manazir, set the tone for this years conference. Top Gun pilot who has commanded an F-14 squadron, the USS Nimitz aircraft , and a Carrier Strike Group. Great speaker that spent time with everyone in attendance and everyone got personally signed copies of his book, Learn How to Lead - Lead to Win. Great way to get the conference started.

The 23rd Annual OCA Estimating Competition is underway with 10 Universities all across Ohio. After weeks of preparation, 8 hours of work on the project yesterday, teams started making their presentations to the judges this morning at 7:00am. Real life project getting them ready to put their classroom learning to the test. Thank you to all the OCA member company volunteers that coach, advise, judge and sponsor the event.

A group of OCA’s Akron-Canton membership helped sort and pack more than 5,170 pounds of food at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in Canton this afternoon . The food will be distributed locally to area communities. Thank you to the foodbank and to the members that volunteered their time today!

OCA honored our Chapter Executive Committee Chairs from across the state for their leadership and commitment to the association at this year’s Winter Conference. Thank you to these volunteers who helped lead our chapters through a successful 2023!

How do you share the benefits of careers in the trades with 60 local school counselors and administrators? Introduce them to current industry employers and apprentices! OCA staff had the pleasure of hosting a panel presentation for Hilliard City Schools today and our apprentices continue to shine as they represent our industry! Thank you Kokosing, Ohio Operating Engineers Training Center and Ohio Laborers' Apprenticeship Program for your support!

The Ohio Contractors Association 2023/2024 Future Leaders Forum is underway with 24 great up and coming industry leaders. This 7 month program builds individual and industry strength.

OCA’s Eastern Ohio Chapter recently completed a service project preparing the green space at Urban Mission of Steubenville, OH. Special thanks to Mid Atlantic Maintenance, Shelly & Sands, James White Construction, Triton Construction, Ohio West Virginia Excavating, and Reco Equipment. This team volunteered their time and effort getting things ready for the 2023 growing season. Special thanks to Therese Mizer of Mid-Atlantic for organizing this great group of volunteers!

OCA’s Columbus Chapter is excited to continue partnering with the Ohio Operating Engineers Training Center and COSI - Center of Science and Industry to host the annual Science of Big Machines exhibit! Thanks to all of the members who sponsored and volunteered time and equipment to support this event! There is still time to visit us at COSI through June 18!

Young Professionals Network - Spring Service Project

In collaboration with West Creek Conservancy OCA Young Professionals are giving back this month with this years’ service project. As we continue to grow in our careers, young professionals also want to show the importance in volunteer work to our local community.

Come join us on May 19th at 7000 Randolph Dr, Parma, OH 44129 from 1 pm to 4 pm as we help West Creek Conservancy at Stearns Farm in Parama with some general clean up and rehabilitation. We will be helping with removal of fence, some light removal of shrubbery, installing tree supports, and construction of raised flowerbeds. All the necessary tools and PPE will be provided.

All participants are welcome to a happy hour to follow. Details for happy hour and parking location will be provided to individuals who register.
