Summer Chinese Culture Boot Camp

This intensive summer course helps students learn Chinese language and culture by focusing on one theme per week. Topics include traditions, geography, people, history and art. We will also practice Chinese vocabulary, dialogue, and reading to help students prepare for the AP Chinese Exam.

Intro to Scratch Jr. Class

Scratch is the world’s largest coding community for young children. It provides a visual programming language with a simple and intuitive interface that allows young people to create digital stories, games, and animations. Scratch promotes computational thinking and problem‐solving skills, creative teaching and learning, self‐expression and collaboration, and equity in computing. Scratch is always free and is available in more than 70 languages.

Scratch Jr: In this course, Scratch Jr is an introductory programming language that enables young children (ages 6‐8) to create interactive stories and games. Children piece together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. Designed to be an introductory programming language to Scratch.mit.edu, Scratch Jr serves as a fantastic foundation of computational skills for younger children. Scratch Jr is available as a free app for both iPad and Android tablets.

1 hour/class, plus 10 hours Discord support time.

Scratch - Imagine, Program, Share Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations.

Intro to Robotics Programming Class

This class gives kids the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of robotics, including the logic and programming knowledge required to design and develop solutions to real-world problems. Students use simulation software to control a virtual EV3 robot, incorporating different type of sensors and robot attachments to create fun programs.

Tech & Communication Class

Communication goes hand in hand with developing technology, where teamwork and collaboration are crucial, yet it is a skill that is often overlooked. In this course, students will learn how to articulate their STEM ideas confidently and present it to an audience. Unlike the other public speaking courses, this course focuses on communication, and the creation of products, rather than just the presentation of them. Students will be able to improve their current skills while also having plenty of opportunities to practice. There versatile communication techniques that the students will learn can be applied to all aspects of life, from creating a presentation in school or submitting a proposal in the workplace to even improving day to day interactions.

2021 Fall Semester is Open for Registration and Scholarship Application

* Fall class registration starts now http://www.ohiochineseschool.org and click on "Registration".
* 2021-2022 school year OCS Chinese Culture Scholarship is accepting application now. It is continuously for the past 8 years, for NEW and current students on a first-apply-first-receive bases. Be sure to register and apply early.
* For student who applying before June 15th, the scholarship award is up to $100 when registering a Chinese class and a Math (or English) class. After then the award will be up to $50 when registering a Chinese class.
* OCS Scholarship Online Application Form https://bit.ly/2QjGHG2. The scholarship application deadline is 8/22/2021.

*The textbook fee has been included in the online registration system this school year. It will be collecting together with the tuition. In order to receive your textbooks in time on the first day of school, your tuition and textbook fee payment must be received prior to 8/1/2020. This is ensure to receive the books on time for school start. Later than this date it may be delayed in receiving your textbook.
