The Lazarus Holiday Parade was a Columbus tradition for decades, starting in 1922 when the F. & R. Lazarus Co. sponsored a parade. The parade grew and became an annual tradition, typically held on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. At its height, the parade route went down High Street from North Broadway all the way to the Lazarus store downtown. It was the kickoff to the season, introducing Santa and Lazarus's Santaland festivities to Columbus. The parade was discontinued in 1973 before being revived briefly in the 80s and 90s.

This undated photo shows a view of the Oval facing north/northeast, with Hayes Hall visible through the trees. The Oval's lawn was originally used for livestock to graze! For many years, it's served as a gathering place at the center of the Ohio State University's campus.
