Just because your child is too young to begin formal piano lessons does not mean they are too young to begin developing a foundation for basic musical education that will provide a number of benefits in their lives, for example:

*a greater awareness and appreciation for music, especially classical music
*a greater awareness and appreciation of rhythm and volume control

*if they choose to pursue music lessons later in life, they will already have learned several basic music concepts that will reduce the mass amount of information they will need to take in during their first year and get them to the "fun part" of playing an instrument sooner. In the course of teaching four of my younger siblings piano over the last several years, I have developed a variety of activities that make the learning process enjoyable for young children and increases retention. Here is a list of the kinds of activities I will be doing:

*Flashcards drills
*Musical Terms Memory Game
*Music Math
*Keyboard Memory Scramble
*Music Alphabet Hopscotch
*Counting beats with stuffed animals
*Coloring pages/music-related art projects
*Read aloud from books on music and famous composers
*Listening to short sections of classical music, explaining the main theme and picking out the instruments used to play the song

No prior knowledge of music is required. But if your child has had some musical training, I am offering an intermediate class as well that compliments piano lessons. Classes are 50 minutes long on Wednesdays. The last class will combine all classes of the day into one for an end-of-class tea party. The whole family is invited to see what students have learned! We will meet at the clubhouse in Lake Creek Forest in Conroe, TX. (Address available upon request.) $12 per child per class. I offer a discount for pre-payers. See individual classes for discount pricing. I offer a risk-free trial for younger siblings you're not sure are ready for the class. They can come to class with their older sibling and if you feel they are sufficiently engaged with the material, you would then pay for the six week class. If at the end of class you feel they are not ready, you do not have to pay for the trial class. I am looking for students ages 3-12. Parents are welcome to stay or leave if they like.
