He ran into some paramedics & huge fans of the MCHD Paramedic Podcast! It just goes to show how far the reach of the podcast has grown. We’re glad you are still promoting the podcast, Doc!
Congratulations to Angela Mathews - our non-field employee of the month! Angela is known as someone who always gives 100%. She regularly goes in her position in the Materials Management department, delivering packages on time and restocking office supplies. Way to go, Angela!
Congratulations to our field employee of the month - Nicola Buchanan! Nicola was nominated by the daughter of a patient. In her letter, the daughter said, “Nicola makes my father feel safe and heard, and he has almost been brought to tears sharing how kind she is. Nicola holds a special place in our hearts, and I wanted to make sure she receives the recognition she truly deserves. Nicola is a remarkable woman who makes a significant difference in the lives of those she helps daily.” Thank you, Nicola, for representing MCHD so well.
Quick public announcement. There is no need to call 911 to inquire about debris removal. 911 is reserved for emergencies.

MCHD is proud to announce a remarkable achievement: the qualification of its Collaborative Just Culture® Program, recognized by global independent assurance and risk management provider, DNV, following a comprehensive audit. This achievement marks the first recognition of its kind in the nation for an EMS service provider.
"At MCHD, we provide exceptional EMS service throughout Montgomery County, Texas. This would not be possible to achieve without the highest standards for safety implemented in an environment where team members are both trusted and empowered to play a key role in this effort," said Randy Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of MCHD. "This recognition is a testament to our entire staff and their commitment to safety and reliability. It is another third-party confirmation that our patients access best-in-class providers with the highest quality standards found in EMS.”
The Collaborative Just Culture Program® DNV Qualification earned by MCHD serves as evidence of performance and proof of compliance with internationally recognized best-practice standards. It is third-party confirmation that MCHD takes an approach centered on patient safety and ensures patients receive the highest quality of care.
As part of this approach, MCHD developed streamlined back-office procedures powered by Laserfiche information management and process automation that enable team members to stay focused on patient outcomes.
“DNV is thrilled that MCHD is the first EMS group in the nation to achieve the Collaborative Just Culture Program (CJC) Qualification,” said Kelly Proctor, President of DNV Healthcare. “CJC qualification is the first program that validates a culture of safety and trust by balancing accountability between individuals and the organization through evidence-based policies, education, processes, tools, and measurements.”
The Collaborative Just Culture Program® fosters a culture of reliability, safety and trust by balancing accountability between individuals and the organization through evidence-based processes, tools and programs. The COLLABORATIVE HIGH RELIABILITY® STANDARDS, including qualification requirements for the Collaborative Just Culture® Program and Reliability Management TeamTM are registered trademarks of SG Collaborative Solutions, LLC (SGCS). SGCS has granted DNV permission to utilize these CHR standards for the purpose of independent, conflict-free verification and audits.
DNV is one of the world's leading independent assurance and risk management providers, operating in more than 100 countries, helping businesses manage risk and ensure the performance of their organizations, products, people, facilities, and supply chains through certification, verification, qualification, and training services. DNV Healthcare evaluates healthcare systems and providers through a rigorous review process and recognizes those that practice and maintain exceptional standards.
“We are excited MCHD has joined a growing list of premier institutions as they advance toward Collaborative High Reliability certification,” said Scott Griffith, president of SG Collaborative Solutions, authors of the Collaborative Just Culture standard. “We expect these evidence-producing standards to set a new high reliability bar in emergency medical services and commend MCHD leadership and staff for this accomplishment.”
