Our Pastor's, Brandon Wilson and Matthew Wilson at Ekklesia Christian Church create a community of loving and caring as prescribed and described in God's manual for life. Today was loud and clear, to live healthy - physically, mentally and emotionally in Christ. And how to seek soul comfort at all levels, specifically, Professional Counseling/therapy. As a Professional Counseling who has always been a Christian, I want to disclose, I have sought counseling and probably will again. I have prayed at some unusual and not unusual places and circumstances. And my favorite is for God to help me with what to say or not say.To clear my mind of thoughts not pleasing too Him. I pray for everyone who walks through my doors. And I am thankful for pastors who want the whole body of the church to know Gods desire for our mental and physical health as we seek to know Him better.

Join Certified Gottman Therapist Dr. Dana McNeil, PsyD on August 3, at 11am Pacific Time. In this one hour webinar, she'll help you evaluate the skills needed to manage couples in conflict, assess your own tolerance for anger and its impact in the room, and better learn how to spot problematic behaviors. We will discuss why it’s important to have a theory when working with couples, how to manage big emotions in couples and current issues such as same s*x partners and polyamorous/CNM relationship styles.

The tree is core in my logo representing the tree of life, how we have roots (family/past), which grow the trunk (what we believe, how/what we feel and think), and the branches represent growing out in the world. I hope for all Christ and the church is a fundamental part of each.
Thank you Jesus!
Amen

Today I adopted a human...
It broke my heart to see him so alone and confused. I suddenly saw his watery eyes as he looked into mine. So I barked with all my might and went after him, following from house to house.
Finally, I got close enough to touch his hand with my nose. The man smiled and I felt his heart begin to warm. I moved closer to his face and felt his tears start to flow. I looked at him and he replied with a beautiful smile.
I jumped into his lap excitedly, promising
that I would be fine, that I would love him forever, and that I would never leave
him. How fortunate that he passed by where I was and that we could meet like
that. I felt lucky too.
So many people have been there, but only he, only he, stopped looked at me. I'm
glad he made a choice and that I was able to save his life.
Today I adopted a human.

Be still.
A partnership is at its best when it is a safe and healthy place for sharing
Sharing your inner world with your partner doesn't have to be all about big realizations. It can be just taking a few moments to share how you're feeling, what you're thinking, or what you need. It can be hard to get into the habit, but with practice, sharing appreciation as well as your needs and wants can get easier.
Looking back can be disparaging or inspiring... let's try inspiring

When defensiveness shows up in your relationship, you can help de-escalate with the antidote: responsibility. This helps you work through the conflict as a team.
Ideally, partners should try to avoid defensiveness when discussing an area of conflict. It can be helpful to acknowledge mutual responsibility for the issue (if applicable) and be receptive to one another's point of view. Partners can then work towards a compromise and engage in respectful dialogue.
Please note: This post is intended to address common conflicts in relationships, and may not be applicable to all experiences. This post is not intended to address situations of abuse. Social media is not a substitute for individualized support.
This is so important to think about when someone in your presence is in a high level of anxiety, frightened or panic
When we are able to access safety in ourselves, we are better able to help provide a space of safety for the world around us. Our Story
Having relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC, from Roanoke, VA, I have been in the field of counseling for approximately 30 years.
A licensed professional counselor, I received my Master’s Degree from Liberty University, in Lynchburg, VA in 2003. I completed a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Carolina University (WCU), in Cullowhee, NC, in 1973.
I worked in the field of human services after graduation from Western Carolina University, with breaks to raise my family. Early in my career I worked with adults as a vocational evaluator and vocational counselor.
While completing my Master’s degree I worked as an Employee Assistant Program Counselor, and as a in-home family counselor. During residency towards licensure I continued with EAP Counseling, in-home family and outpatient counseling.
My counseling style is greatly influenced by my own life experiences (my marriage of 40 years -to the same man, two grown daughters, their husbands and eight grandchildren), as well as professional experiences that include working with families in their homes.
My goal is to support, encourage and direct my clients in learning skills, gaining insight and improving relationships so that their live is productive and fruitful.
