MRT is a cognitive-behavioral therapy program designed to help people make choices about right and wrong. It is based on the idea that thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes are the main factors that determine behavior.

Empower Upper Cumberland is looking for Empower Navigators to serve the following counties: Cannon, DeKalb, Macon, Smith, and Warren.

The Empower Navigator works on behalf of UCHRA to provide navigation services to families within the continuum of care of Empower UC. Empower Navigators serve on the Prosperity Team with coaches throughout the region to best serve the needs of clients as well as to make the Collaboration Team aware of system barriers and service gaps.

She was presented the Partner in Prevention Award in recognition of her passion and commitment. She was presented the award by Ashlen Allen and Tash Mackie the director of the coalition.

In the months since being named one of seven collaborations selected from across the state to receive $25 million in TANF Opportunity Act funds, Empower Upper Cumberland has hit the ground running; hiring key positions and hosting the state’s first
Circles USA Chapter meeting.

“These folks just want a chance and they just want to start over,” Miller said. “And you get placed in a place temporarily let’s say, and the employer loves you and they think you’re great and at the end of the 90 days when your temp placement is done, and unfortunately when they do your background check by the actual employer there are disqualifiers. And so they can’t hire them and they don’t, and that’s really hard to someone new to recovery.”
