Wednesday was National Receptionist Day, but there was a lot of focus on the weather and our attention was on staff and patient safety, however, we STILL want to take a moment to recognize the hardworking team in our Front Office. These ladies (and a few others from time-to-time) are the first staff members you see when you come in and usually, the last ones you see before you leave. They are the central hub of our office and where the bulk of the communication flows through between patients and staff. They handle many tasks throughout the day and we are very thankful for all of their efforts! Cassandra, Amanda, Tayler (and Tim and Christina and Mel ;) ) thanks for all you do!

Today we are celebrating one of our longest-tenured staff members, JoAnn. She is in a special group of members of our team that has been with us since the vision for Satellite Med came to fruition. JoAnn came to us to fill a role as an x-ray technologist, pulling patients from our waiting areas or private rooms for imaging. Lately, she has blessed us by accepting extra job duties by pulling patients to triage them and prep them for their visit with the Provider. She's even been known to dive in and help Dr. Cates' team in the same capacity! JoAnn is fantastic and we are so thankful for all the ways she helps us care for our patients!

This week is National Lab Week. We'd like to recognize our lab team for their contribution to patient care. These ladies are an integral part of our ability to offer a wide range of services to our patients. Thanks for all you do!

Satellite Med is accepting new patients who want to establish care with a P*P as well as seeing urgent care visits daily. We offer a variety of services including onsite imaging (xrays and ultrasounds) and laboratory.

We wanted to take a moment to offer an explanation regarding notification to Dr Alexander’s patients. We are required to notify all of a provider’s patients of their departure, and we typically send this notification out within 30 days. Dr Alexander has not yet provided us with the name and address of his new practice. As soon as he shares this information with us, all of his patients will receive either an email or a USPS letter with all of this information.

We understand that this was a sudden change and apologize for any inconvenience his patients may have had. Rest assured, in the meantime, that any of our other providers will be more than happy to address any immediate concerns you may have until official notification can be sent out.

📣📣EXCITING NEWS this month! We will be onboarding a new Provider to work both on our Urgent Care and Family Practice team! She will be accepting new patients as soon as she gets started in the clinic. Her first day will be Monday, March 11th!

She has experience treating patients of all ages and also has experience with a wide range of medical issues. We are very excited to welcome Cora and have her join our clinical team. Well, here we are in March all of a sudden. This means we have a NEW MONTHLY SPECIAL!

For March we will be focusing on Kidney Health.

Quick facts:
*Kidneys are organs the size of your fist located below the rib cage.
*Kidneys filter waste, toxins, and excess water from your blood.

Common Issues:
Blood Sugar Issues - when the sugar in your blood can't filtered and processed and stays in the bloodstream, this can be toxic to your body. Controlling the amount of sugar in your bloodstream can prevent this. This is known as Diabetes.

Blood Pressure - high blood pressure (hypertension) can cause damage to blood vessels and make it difficult for your kidneys to filter properly. This can be addressed with medication.

Hereditary Issues - Some kidney diseases are naturally passed along through genetics. If your family has a history of any of these issues, you also may be at risk, because science.

📣 We are currently without power and are completely OFFLINE (computers, phones, email, etc). A transformer blew out on Jefferson between Pilot and the movie theater and has taken out most of the block. We currently do not have an ETA on when power will be restored.📣 Please keep an eye out for updates.
