Alzheimer’s Tennessee Cumberlands lost a wonderful person today. She worked tirelessly to support the organization over the years in many capacities. We will highlight more of her work later. When a group was together and was asked how they got involved, the most common answer was “Melinda encouraged me to get involved”. Melinda was special with a giving heart and compassionate spirit. She will be missed. Prayers for her family and friends.

As the disease progresses in a person with dementia, their behavioral expressions often change. These changes may be alarming or even embarrassing for a family caregiver. While every person and is different, some expressions are very common. Tracey and Marketta share a frank and far reaching discussion that will help caregivers to be ready for whatever happens along their own journey. alzTennessee.org/Podcast

Update: Memory Cafe Act has been busy this fall. They continue to meet twice a month with a singalong one of those two meetings. In November the group took one meeting for a Thanksgiving meal. The food was delicious (Thanks to Grade-A Catering). After stuffing ourselves, everyone took time to share memories of Thanksgivings past and also what they are thankful for this year.

After this meeting, we switched gears and enjoyed Christmas music. The Memory Cafe Act group attended the Memory Care group at Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church. Forty-eight people attended the party and enjoyed great food Willow Catering provided, played games, and sang Christmas songs.

Twas the day before the walk - All the creatures are stirring getting ready for tomorrow. Plan to arrive in time to enjoy our walk. The pet contest will be held at 10:30 with the audience choosing their favorite the good old-fashioned way - applause. Bring your pet - dress them up or just bring them to show off. We are excited to have Cobalt Offroad Jeep club with us tomorrow. Bring a few coins to drop in a coin can to vote for your favorite jeep. We appreciate their support. We will also have a cake walk so a $1 donation could win you a nice dessert for the weekend. Corn hole will be set up for an opportunity to win some small prizes, and of course, there will be drawings throughout the morning for door prizes. The weather looks good. Bring you chair, be entertained, and join us for a short walk around the parking lot. All the fun starts around 10:30 and concludes with the walk at noon. There are lots of places people can go tomorrow, but Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc., the Cumberlands hopes you will spend a few hours with us!
