UPDATE (1/1) at 8:03 AM: FPL and traffic engineering are on scene and have fixed the traffic light.
- - - - - - -
Due to a blown transformer, the traffic signals at Griffin Rd. and Flamingo Rd. are out until further notice. BSO deputies are directing traffic. Use caution and use alternate routes if possible.
WHAT IS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER?
A catalytic converter is an essential part of a vehicle's exhaust system. It helps lower the number of toxic pollutants emitted into the air by converting hazardous combustion gases into less harmful substances, like water v***r and carbon dioxide.
WHY DO PEOPLE STEAL THEM?
Converter scraps can be sold anywhere, from relatively small sums of money (about $100) to, in some cases, over $540. The part is manufactured from certain precious metals (rhodium, palladium, and platinum) that recently increased in value.
THE COST OF REPLACING A CONVERTER:
The sad news is that if you become a victim of theft, replacing one will hit your wallet. Most catalytic converters cost between $800 to $1,200. In some instances, you will have to pay anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 to fix your car.
HOW TO HELP PREVENT CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT:
Sign up for our FREE Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention event and have your converter etched and painted by BSO Cooper City.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of K9 Macie passing away. Losing such an important part of our BSO family is never easy.
K9 Macie, alongside Deputy Covet, had a remarkable career. Macie was known for her work in locating missing persons and as BSO's first certified therapy dog.
During her career, Macie attended over 300 community events, responded to 1,118 calls for service, participated in 523 deployments, and conducted 346 demonstrations.

Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car for any period of time. On a warm day, the temperature in a car can exceed 120° in a matter of minutes, even with the windows partially open.
Your pet can quickly suffer brain damage or die from heatstroke or suffocation. Animals that are most vulnerable to hyperthermia include young pups/kittens, older animals, and those that are overweight.
There’s a lot to do when the weather is right: family picnics, a day at the beach, endless hours on the golf course, or lounging in your backyard hammock.
However, too much fun in the sun can be dangerous. Excessive heat exposure can cause dehydration. Dehydration, in turn, can cause dangerous conditions, such as:
- Heat cramps
- Heat exhaustion
- Heat stroke
Stay cool and beat the heat by:
- Staying hydrated
- Avoid alcohol
- Avoid peak hours of sunlight
- Wear the right clothing for the weather & activity
May your Eid Al-Adha be full of love, laughter and light.
Happy Father's Day!
