We were retained on this case in the summer of 2018. Almost 4 years (a few depositions, Covid, a Motion to Dismiss, and an almost week long trial) later, our client can finally rest easy after a jury found him NOT GUILTY today of a 1st Degree Felony (where he was facing up to 30 years in state prison if convicted).

The police can arrest you for an alleged crime, but it’s actually the State Attorney’s Office (not the police who arrested you) who decides IF and WHAT to formally charge you with.

A “No Action” is when the State Attorney’s Office dismisses a case WITHOUT filing any formal charges.

In this case, we worked diligently to communicate with the State Attorney’s Office, and presented them with the actual context and facts (that weren’t apparent in the police report). The State Attorney’s Office ultimately No Actioned the case, meaning the case was completely dismissed before any formal charges against our client were even filed.
