This Wednesday is the last the General Meeting of the year for both Post 98 and Unit 98.
In light of Veterans day on the 11th we are having a special dinner.

The Auxiliary is having a fundraiser/food drive for St. Augustine food bank in Coral Gables. Anything you can donate will be most appreciated.

Also will be giving away two bicycles to vets that want or need them.

Come enjoy the good food and companionship of your fellow veterans.

Dinner is at 6pm Meetings at 7pm

Tomorrow is the General Meeting. We have a special guest..Cliff Tubbs Retired Miami Dolphins football.
He is coming to talk about his charity with the vets and the Miami heat. Should be very interesting. The $5 dinner is a follows:
Lasagna with Chicken in a White sauce. Salad Rolls and Dessert.
Is going to be a great night get there early. Dinner is at 6pm. Meeting at 7pm.

August 14 is Navajo Code Talkers Day

Navajo Code Talkers Native Americans from the American southwest were vital to Allied victories during WWII.

Grab some friends and join Keep Coral Gables Beautiful this Friday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at Pinewood Cemetery, 7401 Erwin Road to remove invasive plants and litter throughout this historic site. Parking is limited, so carpooling, ridesharing, or public transport are encouraged. Volunteer hours are available upon request.

Young or old, you knew who Tony Bennett was. Many of us grew up with our parents playing his records at home. His music spanned decades and his talent was showcased with artists across several genres. He appeared on MTV Unplugged and recorded with Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga to name a few. A true and rare talent, his music will live on.

But, did you know that Bennett was a WWII veteran? He was drafted in 1944 towards the end of the war and was assigned to the 63rd Infantry Division. As the 63rd Infantry fought in Germany, Bennett was among the troops that eventually liberated the Kaufering Concentration Camp, a subcamp of Dachau.

As the war came to an end, Bennett spent time singing with the 314th Army Special Services Band. After leaving the Army, he used his GI Bill to study singing while working day jobs. The rest we know is history.

Our installation alongside Post 98 Post 182 on July 12. We gave out a certificate of appreciation to our Member Joann Smith for all her support, Unit 98 earned a 100% membership plaque, pins and ribbon, also the 2023 ALA FL Dept Public Relations Chairman Award and Helga Laks got a plaque for 2023 Unit Member of the Year. Congratulations to our new Commander JC Gomez. And thank you to Juliana Correa for recognizing us as Girl Scout Hometown Heroes and many blessings on your new adventures as a college student❤️🇺🇸

Greetings, tonight is our installation alongside Post 98. We are also hosting Post 182 for their installation too. Juliana Correa our 2022 Girl State is coming up to visit before she heads off to college. Dinner will be Lasagna with all the fixings. Dinner is at 6pm and the meeting is at 7pm. Come on down for dinner and to support our new officers for the 23-24 year.

On Saturday March 11th Post 98Coral Gables celebrated the American Legions 104th birthday by giving honor and praise to three of our Boy.Scouts - including our 2022 Girl Stater Julianna Correa - for earning their Eagle Scout rank. Commander Pelton also gave out awards for Coral Gables Police Officer and Firefighter of the year awards.
