Educational Series- Understanding the Basics of Construction Estimating.

Early in my career, I remember that one of my tasks as part of the estimating team was to go in the field to monitor and cost code equipment timesheets, then review and analyze the monthly report against the original estimate as we monitored the current productivity and updated our estimating cost index at the end of the project. From creating bid packages and scope sheets to writing a scope of work, managing the change order process, and leading the project team lessons learned that provide feedback from the estimate to the project’s closeout, I’ve seen the life cycle of the construction estimates. It’s not only one of the tools that win the job but also one of the essential tools for success. Your estimate can lead to a successful project, partnership, and historical data or NOT.

One thing we're going to do is prepare and study because I don't know, maybe because I'm a lifelong learner, maybe it is the engineer in me that must prove the facts, but mostly because we need to provide correct information and make it available to everyone. I don't take it lightly when I lend my voice because it's a responsibility. It should be more than just an opinion; it's only fair to bring the data, the facts, the case studies.

Unplugged to gear up for a year of Grace, Blessings, and Overflow.

You can't give what you don't have, so the last two weeks, I unplugged to come back fuller, so I can operate in abundance and overflow.

Welcome to 2023! The word for 2023 is Elevate!

If quarter 1 was courage, quarter two alignment, and quarter three ex*****on, quarter 4 is Gratitude. Gratitude for being right here, right now.

Gratitude for the courage, alignment, and ex*****on that took place this year, the lessons learned, the challenges, the new friendships created, and the new endeavors. But also the Grace of being alive for another chance to get it right, fulfill our purpose, and bring forth the best version of us. If you don't take time for Gratitude, you forget how far you've come.

So, as the year twinkles down, create space to breathe deeper, watch the sunrise and the sunsets, intentionally make time to celebrate life with friends, family, and loved ones, but most of all, take time for yourself to refresh and reset. Live, Love and Laugh because we only have this life and this moment.

2022- The year of Courage, Alignment, and Ex*****on! It’s Skin in the game season!

As I stand here this morning, I'm filled with peace and a deep sense of gratitude for everyone along this journey who shaped the builder I am today.

For the ones that didn't believe and challenged me to bring forth excellence despite low expectations, the strength to reject what I never wanted to emulate, and the courage to align with my core values.

For the ones that believed and pushed me to find my voice, speak it, and believe in it so I can stand boldly in the truth of who I am today!

For my foundation, God, Family, and Community who grounded me on Sacred ground so that I never lost sight of Whose I am, who I am, and my circumstances!

I'm so thankful for choosing not to settle, for digging deeper and reaching higher because I believe, like Aristotle said, "We are what we repeatly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit!"

It's Quarter 3- Ex*****on time, boots on the ground, time to learn, teach, empower and build!
