Corvallis High School Upward Bound students - we have a new tutoring opportunity for you! Twice a week after school we will have OSU students come to provide tutoring to you. They can help with Math, Science, History, English, and more!
Tuesdays from 3:10pm (right after school) to 5pm and Wednesdays from 2:15pm (right after school) to 4:30pm

We are so excited to kick off the summer residential program tomorrow! Here is a list of some things you will want to bring and some things that you have to leave at home as you get ready for your stay on campus.

Summer Program Week 1-2 Recap

We got to kick off the beloved summer program last week and wrap up week two today! It has been lots of fun to get to know all of the students and do some fun activities while continuing to work hard in Science, Math, and English/Media Studies.

Students got to visit the ice core lab on campus, work on cool experiments, hone math skills through interactive activities, and begin producing their own podcasts. There may be some fun content coming your way soon documenting the podcasting process.

Lastly, a big thank you to all of the mentors and staff, that made these past two weeks possible! We can't wait to see what this next week has in store for us all.

Don't forget, the residential program, where students get to stay on campus in dorm rooms, is coming up! There will be some content coming your way soon to get you excited and help get you ready.

Apply for the 2022 Summer program! Applications are due May 23rd! Also if you know anyone interested in applying to be a mentor they should do so ASAP. TRiO Upward Bound (UB) is hiring four full-time Mentors for their 2022 Summer Program here at OSU. UB’s summer program consists of two components, the non-residential followed by a residential program and we are currently recruiting for our non-residential program. Our non-residential program will be 3 weeks long, 4 days/week, Monday - Thursday from June 27 - July 15, 2022.


Our two week residential program will run from July17 - July 28, 2022 at Oregon State University! The Residential Mentor position will be posted the first week of June. Ideally, we would have the same mentors for all five weeks. Reach out for more information!

UB Senior Celebration & Summer Program Orientation is coming up on May 11th! Please don’t forget to RSVP by Friday, May 6th! There will be dinner, cake, and a raffle. This event is open to all UB students.

End of the year trip photo dump!

Two weeks ago, students got to go to Southern Oregon for the weekend and got to do all kinds of fun stuff. On this trip, Upward Bound students got to tour three colleges, Southern Oregon University and Umpqua Community College, and Rogue Community College- Redwood Campus! For activities, students got to Rouge Carting, visit Litha Park, attend and see a play at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and go to the Wildlife Safari. This trip was all paid for by the TRiO Upward Bound program and was a great way to celebrate the hard work the students have been putting in during the school year.

Be sure to stay tuned for information about our summer program, this year, students will get the chance to stay in OSU dorm rooms.

Register for our end of the year trip to Ashland, OR ASAP! Spots are limited! All expenses will be paid for by Upward Bound. There will be college visits, a trip to the wildlife safari, the Shakespeare Festival, and more! Students should check their emails from their UB Advisor to get access to the RSVP link.

We had so much fun this last Saturday celebrating National TRiO Day! UB sudents got to play paintball and do community service with current Oregon State TRiO students at the .

Are you considering attending WOU to earn a bachelor's degree but are concerned about the cost? Well we have EXCITING news! Yesterday, Chemeketa and Western Oregon University signed an agreement that will provide Chemeketa transfer degree graduates with GUARANTEED admission to WOU, junior standing, and completion status for all lower division general education units! This means if you complete your 2-year transfer degree at Chemeketa, you can then complete your Bachelor's Degree in just two more full-time years! Officially, the program is called, "Direct Connect." But feel free to call it, "Chemeketa-2 to WOU-2 for YOU!" 😀

"Hi, my name is Russell Fitch. I was born and raised in Wilsonville, a small city just outside Portland, I love hiking around Oregon and writing music in my free time. I am currently in my second year at OSU, majoring in biochem and molecular biology, and will be graduating next year in hopes of getting into med school! I’m excited to be tutoring math and science for TRiO Upward Bound!"

I’m excited to be tutoring English/WR for TRiO Upward Bound."

Thank you at for having us last Friday! Students had so much fun at Beaver Hour getting to learn about the College of Business at OSU last Friday. They got to tour the College of Business, attend a mock lecture, hear from about finical planning, run a pretend business for college students during an activity, and eat lunch in front of one of the lecture halls on campus. We can't wait for more Beaver Hours in 2022!
