Earlier this week, the College of Education visited with the 2nd graders in Ms. Hilbourne's class at Creston K-8 school in Portland. We were treated to a lively lesson on finding (and building) shapes and arrays... with an occasional funny face thrown in for good measure. 😝 The lesson was led by Tia Knuth, who with a partner educator, Matthew Marchyok, is heading up a working group on how to get kids excited and engaged with mathematics. Their working group is part of our Equitable Accelerated Learning Project which supports efforts to identify and help reverse inequities in the state’s educational systems exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This included a discussion of how AI can be helpful in this process. Our thanks to Andrea Bellinger for some of these photos.
