It’s been fun to see how glass can contribute to the pursuit of conveying motion through wood

Under the feet, it's gold and crunchy, and the peach tree is full and ripe. It's been fast, steady, and hot as all the clichés about time roll on. I'll catch my breath in the fall, but it's high summer now.
Next month, I'll be loading up the truck with a slew of Pith to Bark artisanal goods for an adventure south. It's time to shake hands with the Bay Area!
If we've crossed paths in the past few months and a piece has entered your web of life, thank you. It's a joy making these works for you :)

Here’s to May!
Nat emailed earlier this year, looking for a gift for her mom.
“She is one of the many dear humans who passed a respect of the more-than-human world to me as a young one,” she wrote.
“Your compositions of wood and stone are poems in the shapes of homes for birds, pollinators, plant teachers, and the objects we carry home in our palms and pockets.”
Thank you, Nat, and happy birthday to your mom.
To those near and far, a few new made-to-order designs are now available in Pith to Bark’s internet store -

Out and about at events on hot asphalt and muddy grass, in convention halls and college gyms, some decide to stop. There are the seasoned, each carrying their stories to share or words of encouragement to impart. Then, there are the greener, wider-eyed, with their pause, stare, and then questions.
Their curiosity bursting at the seam, like their pocket, full of rocks found in the parking lot. It’s in that young mind that we can see life.
For in this interconnected web, every story shared, every question asked, and every moment of wonder holds the potential to deepen our engagement with this world. It’s here, where I hope these objects can live.
Just sent out a few of these to Lauren over at . She asked if I could do an arc, which I said, of course, because an arc design was already being drafted!
If you are in Bend, swing by her unique shop.
Today and tomorrow, Pith to Bark is at the Wild Arts Festival. The event is from 10-5 both days at the Viking Pavilion.
Stop by while we celebrate nature in art and books benefiting Portland Audubon- To inspire all people to love and protect birds, wildlife, and the natural environment upon which life depends.

We are thrilled to have Pith to Bark at our show this year!
Owner/artist Gavin Tougher describes his work so eloquently:
"The act of creation is a form of inquiry for me, a means of grappling with the complexities of our world while revealing the hidden beauty and wonder that surrounds us. This interplay inspires work that take on various forms, from three-dimensional poems that hang on the wall to more functional sculptural spaces that serve as sites for wildlife to interact and inhabit." Inspiring!
Shop these creations (and those of 90+ other local artists) at "Art in the Burbs" on October 28-29, 10am-5pm at Tigard High School, where YOUR shopping helps fund arts programs in our district schools. https://artintheburbs.org/
If you are unable to attend the show this year, we are always accepting direct donations for our grant programs at the-ftts.org. Thank you!
