The Locke Homestead
Home Farms are the backbone of American agriculture. This one was founded in 1847 and still occupied by the same family. Settled by Abrahm Locke in 1847.
We are still here. The farm has been actively farmed by the same family for over 160 years. Hoping to still be here for the 200th anniversary.
10 pillows and 5 furry babies. Will there be more? 🤣😳❤️
This would go really nicely here on the farm.

10 years ago one tree came down next to the house and another was still with us. Both are firewood today. Still have some of them.
Just put up a sunshade to add to our outdoor experience. With a grandson on the way we will be spending more time sodding outside.
Lots of rain on the Homestead. A neighbor had a tree come down on their house. So I did a little walk to check out things near the house. There is a bit to clean up but not bad.
Lots of rain here! But the creek is pretty much staying where it should. We are snuggled in and resting up for Friday night.
So grateful for the rains. This is Mother Nature Streaming as only she can do.
Just took this from the top of the driveway which is 210 yards. This "stream" wanders around and passes 30 feet behind the shop. So grateful for the rains.
Beautiful fall day filled with Oregon Mist. The patio is mostly dry. ❤️
Near end of June 2021, there was a pretty good gusty, windy day. The trees were, and still are, dry and brittle. A huge limb, a widow maker, broke off but didn't totally come down. This is video of the branch removal. It is just on a tripod and is three minutes long. It's one BIG limb.
Pretty dry here. Am actually happy the fields are worked up. It's a bit more safe.
Just a bit of cleanup near the back of the house. Garrett will be surprised at what was done today.
The water is flowing out behind the shop. We may have to put off cutting up the rest of the wood and stacking it up.
It's so nice to be able to breathe. The fires in Oregon muted the sun. The first morning after the rain, the sun returned.
Our pastor talks a bit about the fires in Oregon and the people staying at the Benton County Fairgrounds, prior to his daily scripture reading for Sept 15th 2020.
She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy.
The orchard grass fields look bare. But they're not. The rains helped the grass start growing before the combines could come and harvest the seeds. Orchard grass is a perennial grass meaning it regrows just like your lawn. Our other fields are annual rye grass. It has to be replanted every year.
Time to burn the winter cleanup here at the farm.
The snow is gone but there s lots of water everywhere. I took a short walkabout to check out the drainage.
Purrfect morning!
Lots of water. So happy the brush is gone and not impeding the flow. ❤️
First big storm of the year. Garret cleaned up behind the shop and when the rains came, they flowed right on by.
We at The Homestead would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. We are truly blessed to live here and be able to share the joy. ❤️ 💕 ❤️
Finally get to burn some of the brush removed from behind the shop. Lucky on the weather.
The leaves have begun dropping. Must get ready for winter rains. Love seasons. Thank you Garrett for clearing this area. Never saw it this good.
After 52 years it was time to give the workshop a new roof. It will get done in two days!
Hi! Can I hang out with you?
Great day doing cleanup here on the farm. Even had a couple visitors, that just layed under the black gum tree and watched.
Spring has sprung and the ground is firming up. Almost the time to get out there and git'r done.
