ASEA Power Systems’ Dock Boost Transformers (DBTs) are smart isolation transformers with three levels of boost to keep vessels powered even when input voltages sag by up to 35%. These DBTs are the perfect replacement for the Charles Iso-Boost and can protect sensitive, and often expensive, electronics from damage associated with common shore power problems including brownouts, spikes, sags, and low-line or high-line voltage.

The DBT boasts a wider input voltage range of 167-270 VAC and is 65% lighter than its predecessor. The identical mounting pattern and wiring connection points makes refit installations a breeze, and at only 127 lbs, installation can easily be accomplished by a single person.

The Benefits of a Shore Power Converter on a Yacht 05/19/2023

Here is a throwback to an article our Manager of Engineering and Service, Gabriel Vargas, wrote for Dockwalk magazine.

"Walk the docks of any marina worldwide and you’ll see dozens of brightly colored power cables connecting moored vessels with onshore electrical feeds. But the tranquil scene may not be as safe as it appears, particularly for anyone who winds up in the water."

ASEA products have a reputation for being the safest on the market. Unlike most of our competitors, we use isolation transformers in the shore power conversion process.

Without an isolation transformer, there is a direct connection between the earth ground of the dock and the ship’s electrical system. A loose wire on the boat may cause fault current to flow through the ship's hull to the water, and back to the shore supply. That current flowing through the water is what makes swimming in the marina so dangerous!

That’s why every ASEA product comes with an isolation transformer. We wouldn’t make a product that doesn’t put your safety first!
